Job description

Serve as the primary academic manager for a team of faculty members, providing guidance and support in all aspects of their work
Work with individual faculty members to develop and revise course materials, including syllabi, lectures, and assignments
Monitor student progress and performance in courses, intervening when necessary to ensure that students are successful
Serve as the point of contact for students seeking academic advising or support
Collaborate with other academic managers and administrators to develop and implement department-wide policies and procedures
Manage the department budget, ensuring that expenditures are within approved limits
Hire, train, and supervise administrative staff, including secretaries, teaching assistants, and research assistants
Plan and coordinate departmental events, such as colloquia, symposia, and conferences
Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, such as other universities, government agencies, and private foundations
Write grant proposals to secure funding for departmental initiatives
Represent the department at university-wide committees and task forces
Perform other duties as assigned
