Global Voice allows BT to capitalise on its global network presence to provide voice services such as SIP trunking, inbound contact centre services, and connectivity to UC platforms, serving major global corporations. Global Voice is currently going through a major revamp of the network to provide a fully end to end IP network built for the future.

Joining as a software engineer will give you the opportunity to be a part of a diverse team, building the services, applications and network of tomorrow. You will get to be involved in the end-to-end journey of delivering apps into the new network, from design, planning, development, testing, deployment.

You’ll be using your skills to provide the best solution for our customers to remain connected with each other.

What you’ll be doing

  1. You’ll be responsible to own the CI/CD tooling, pipelines for vast number of projects within the Global Voice project space.

  2. Understand, maintain, and build upon Infrastructure as Code projects, written in Terraform, software installation orchestration/automation playbooks and roles, written in Ansible.

  3. Work with the various software developers to assist migration from old infrastructure and automation in Jenkins, to GitLab CI/CD for dev pipelines.

  4. Work with Site Reliability Engineers (SRE), coordinate tasks, offer guidance when required, and review work for IaC.

  5. You’ll be required to understand the full end-to-end software architecture of all things Global Voice related. You should spend your time understanding various workflows, and domains, from voice signalling, inventory provisioning, reporting, monitoring, etc.

  6. You will be expected to document the architecture, pipelines, work flows etc.

  7. You should have a strong opinion on best practice, and strong understanding of security. You’ll be responsible to maintain high standards among the team.

  8. You should have a vision for the future, how things are evolving in the community and when to adopt new technologies or tools.
