DTICI_1D Engine Thermodynamics & Lubrication – Senior Engineer

Thermal engineering team requires experienced engineer to apply strong technical and analytical skills to improve Daimler Trucks capability to deliver greener power train solution. The aim is to develop and maintain good computational capability at DTICI catering the global partners need.

Job Description:

• Proficient with mechanical as well as chemical domain specifically on conventional engine, Oil lubrication and upcoming topics like H2 fuel delivery system.
• Strong knowledge & know how on Engine combustion, Gas dynamics, Thermo-dynamics of Engine system and lubrication requirement from thermal & Cooling perspective.
• Understanding and analyzing test cell measurement and vehicle measurement data.
• Familiarization of different component of the powertrain along with fundamental functionality and their interactional impact.
• Architecture selection through Simulation & testing loops, system level understanding and analysis.
• Drive method development techniques to improve simulation accuracy.
• Establish cross functional engagement.

On-Job Mandatory Skills Required:

Experience – 2- 6 Years

• Development of Flow and Engine performance model (Gas dynamics & Thermodynamics) from scratch with GT Suite.
• Should be able to initiate ideas/ concepts, apply theoretical knowledge on simulation models to achieve desired objectives.
• Strong ability to understand requirement from internal teams & propose new concepts/simulation studies individually.
• Component/subsystems like Turbo charger, Air Intake system, Fuel injection system, Heat Exchangers, EGR system, bearing and E-Axle system detailed modelling & calibration.
• Knowledge in powertrain calibration and rating development process is added advantage.
• Deep understanding of Various thermal mode of operation. With Cooling and thermal requirement of the complete working domain .
• Knowledge on combustion modelling techniques (Heat release rate, Predictive combustion modelling, Mean Cylinder modelling.
• Communicate technical information effectively with team members, management & other working groups.
• To work in technically challenging environment in fast pace.

Qualifications and experience required:

• Master's degree in chemical/Automotive engineering from renowned institution.
• 3+ years of industrial experience in Thermodynamics domain using numerical simulations with strong fundamentals of fluid dynamics and heat transfer physics with working experience in Oil simulation.
• Experience in performing numerical simulations using GTSuite, MATLAB Simulink and thorough understanding of 1D simulation methods and applications.
• Proven record in completion of milestone and delivery of work product, key point of contact for customer with good experience in front facing the counterparts.
• Self-motivated; Passionate in bringing own ideas to applications and nurture innovation culture in team.
• Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent troubleshooting skills to analyze and resolve problems.
• Good interpersonal skills - flexibility to adapt to colleagues from different geographical, ethnic, educational backgrounds.
• German language knowledge is added advantage.
