Job description
With the impending retirement of two long serving trustees, the Foundation is looking for two new General Trustees to join our board.
The Rule Foundation supports rainbow communities and takatāpui to flourish and pursue systemic change for future generations. We are most well known for providing grants to advance the health, wellbeing and visibility of rainbow, takatāpui & MVPFAFF+ communities.
As a trustee, you'll join members of the community helping distribute grants, advocate for funding of rainbow projects from mainstream philanthropic organisations and help The Rule Foundation grow its partnerships, capital contributions, and equity in the way it administers and distributes its grants.

About the role
As a trustee of the Rule Foundation, you are responsible for the effective governance of the Foundation and its funds, developing our strategic direction, and pursuing our charitable purposes.
We are particularly interested in applicants with experience:
working with and for rainbow, takatāpui & MVPFAFF+ communities
experience of and connection to te ao Māori
an understanding of current philanthropic best practices
living, working, playing or learning in Tai Tokerau , Tāmaki Makaurau or Te Waipounamu ( South Island)
establishing and facilitating a network of high-net-worth individuals interested in creating a legacy for the benefit of rainbow, takatāpui & MVPFAFF+ communities
As a General Trustee, you are responsible for:
Reviewing applications
Participating in decision-making processes around grant-making
Contributing to the development of our strategic direction and making strategic decisions as and when they are required
Attending approx 6-weekly online Trustee meetings
Attending decision-making meetings as required
Attending the annual general meeting in person (travel costs covered)
Being responsive to email communications where decisions are made by the Foundation
Building relationships with community organisations and philanthropic funders
There are opportunities for Trustees to attend community events to network and promote the purposes of the Foundation or to support grant recipients.
As a Rule Foundation Trustee, you will get the opportunity to:
Provide tangible support to rainbow, takatāpui & MVPFAFF+ communities in the form of grants
Drive and influence the strategy and kaupapa of the Rule Foundation alongside a board of four other trustees, advisors and staff
Make connections with a network of like-minded people, charities, and organisations working towards social and environmental change
