Director of R&D, Product Engineering (Emergency Care)
In this role, you have the opportunity to l ead the Product Engineering of Patient Monitoring and Defibrillators for the Philips Emergency Care business. You will be a key leader on the Global Emergency Care R&D Leadership Team and report to the Head of Global R&D, Emergency Care.
You will be part of t he Philips Emergency Care Global R&D Leadership Team and will direct Systems, Embedded Software, Hardware, and Verification & Validation engineering activities. These activities require a broad spectrum of skills/capabilities, from the electronic, mechanical, system, and embedded software engineering to managing risk, security, technical investigations, and labeling.
Your role: - Partnering with the broader Global Emergency Care R&D Leadership Team in formulating a long-term vision for the Product Engineering capabilities for the Emergency Care product lines.
- Partnering with the broader Philips ecosystem to leverage external expertise, centers of excellence teams and other pools to deliver outcomes.
- Managing the capabilities of the local R&D department and ensuring project execution by highly motivated staff to deliver on the businesses 'must win' initiatives.
- Displaying strong market, content, and technology knowledge, understanding the competition, the market players, the background of technologies, and the current and future trends.
- Optimizing the product engineering process in the context of organizational and market dynamics.
- Developing and managing budgets for the department
- Reporting on progress and issues to the other management team members
- Ensuring all R&D activities meet the requirements of the Philips QMS
- Leading the R&D department in providing technical support for different aspects of the business.
You're the right fit if:
- Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree from an accredited school in an engineering / technical discipline and ideally a postgraduate degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in Electrical /Electronics/Mechanical engineering or equivalent discipline
- 15+ years in product development with 5+ years' experience in leading a multi-disciplinary team developing medical devices, ideally with experience in,
- Patient monitoring and defibrillation
- The development of software as a medical device
- Wired and wireless communication technologies
- CE & FDA regulatory as well as military & aviation standard requirements
- Model-based system engineering methodologies
- Design for Service and Manufacture
- Design for 6 sigma/Green belt/ Lean/ Agile development
- Strong experience in managing a multi-disciplined team of engineers development, engagement, performance management.
- Strong interpersonal, planning, communication, attention to detail, and self-starter skills
- Strong ability to work cross-culturally in a global environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills while maintaining high-quality standards.
