Job description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Engineer cum Project Manager to oversee our Geodesic Domes project for our EEB Engineering Division. As the Engineer cum Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the project, from conceptualization to completion. Your technical expertise in engineering and project management will be crucial in ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality Geodesic Domes within budget and on schedule. This role requires a strong understanding of structural engineering principles, project management methodologies, and construction practices specific to Geodesic Domes.
The position reports to the Head of Operations and will be based out of Chennai. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the planning, design, and execution of Geodesic Domes projects, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, building codes, and safety regulations. Collaborate with clients, architects, and stakeholders to understand project requirements, goals, and constraints, and provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the project lifecycle. Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and structural analyses to determine the suitability and viability of Geodesic Domes for specific locations and applications. Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, and monitor progress to ensure adherence to project milestones and financial targets. Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to procure materials, equipment, and services required for the project. Supervise and manage the project team, including engineers, designers, and construction workers, ensuring efficient resource allocation, task delegation, and performance management. Oversee the construction and installation of Geodesic Domes, conducting regular site visits, inspections, and quality control to ensure adherence to project specifications and standards. Manage project risks and resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise during the construction process, providing timely and effective solutions. Maintain effective communication with clients, keeping them informed of project progress, addressing their concerns, and managing their expectations. Prepare project documentation, including progress reports, technical drawings, specifications, and final project evaluations. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a related field. A master's degree in project management is a plus. Proven experience (8+ years) in engineering and project management, with a focus on construction projects, preferably including Geodesic Domes or similar structures. Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, construction methods, and building materials, with expertise in designing and building Geodesic Domes. Proficiency in project management methodologies, tools, and software, with a track record of successfully managing complex projects from initiation to completion. Familiarity with relevant codes, regulations, and standards related to construction and Geodesic Domes. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate and motivate multidisciplinary project teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify risks, troubleshoot issues, and make sound decisions to ensure project success. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines. ยทJob tags
