What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into effective solutions, utilizing theoretical knowledge of both SQL Server and Azure SQL technologies.
  • Aware about migration approach of on-premises SQL Server databases to Azure SQL with minimal

downtime.

  • Understand backup and restore procedures tailored for both SQL Server and Azure SQL environments, considering Azure Backup services and native SQL Server backup capabilities.
  • Administer SQL Server databases, including provisioning, configuration, and performance tuning to

meet performance and scalability requirements.

  • Manage and optimize SQL Server instances, implementing approach and functionality of high

availability solutions such as SQL Server Always On configurations and failover clustering.

  • Configure and manage Azure SQL Database instances, ensuring proper provisioning, configuration, and performance tuning for optimal resource utilization.
  • Configure and manage Azure SQL Managed Instances, applying expertise in features like crossdatabase querying and support for SQL Agent jobs.
  • Utilize Azure SQL Elastic Pools to optimize resource utilization and cost-effectiveness for managing multiple databases with varying workloads.
  • Understanding about disaster recovery strategies specific to both SQL Server and Azure SQL, including failover planning and geo-replication options, to ensure high availability and data protection.
  • Collaborate closely with infrastructure and networking teams to ensure secure and reliable connectivity for both SQL Server and Azure SQL services.
  • Monitor and optimize both SQL Server and Azure SQL Database performance, utilizing tools like SQL Server Management Studio, Azure Monitor, and Query Performance Insights to identify and address performance bottlenecks.
  • Implement robust security measures for both SQL Server and Azure SQL databases, including

authentication methods, RBAC, and encryption techniques to safeguard sensitive data.

  • Develop comprehensive documentation outlining backup and restore procedures specific to both SQL Server and Azure SQL, considering factors such as storage redundancy and retention policies.
  • Stay updated on the latest SQL Server and Azure SQL features and best practices, integrating them into existing infrastructure to enhance efficiency and reliability.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, providing a solid foundation in database management and cloud computing concepts.
  • Theoretical understanding of SQL Server and Azure SQL internals, gained through coursework, training programs, or self-study, demonstrating knowledge of database architecture, indexing, query

optimization, and transaction management.

  • Completed training or coursework focused on SQL Server database administration, including backupand restore operations, high availability configurations, disaster recovery strategies, Alwayson, SSIS, log shipping, and tools like Data Migration Assistant (DMA) and Database Migration Service (DMS).
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud services and basic networking concepts, acquired through coursework or practical exercises, understanding the principles of cloud computing, Azure resource management, and virtual networking.
