As a DOE, your responsibilities will include:
- Technical Leadership: Provide strategic direction and technical guidance to engineering teams, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices.
- Team Management: Recruit, mentor, and lead high-performance engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work culture.
- Product Development Oversight: Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to delivery, ensuring timely and high-quality releases.
- Scaling Operations: Develop and implement scalable engineering processes and systems to accommodate the growth of products and teams efficiently.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as product management and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of engineering efforts into overall business goals.
- Technology Roadmap: Define and execute a technology roadmap, staying abreast of industry trends, and making informed decisions to enhance product capabilities and maintain technical relevance.
The Successful Applicant
Requirements for a Director of Engineering:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 9-15 years of progressive experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of leadership and management.
- Leadership Skills: Experience in leading and managing diverse engineering teams, fostering collaboration and innovation.
- High-Scale Product Experience: Extensive experience in successfully scaling up products to meet growing demands, with a focus on performance, reliability, and user experience.
- Strategic Thinker: Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to align technical strategies with overall business objectives.
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of software development principles, technologies, and methodologies, with a hands-on background in coding and architecture.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Innovation and Adaptability: Ability to drive innovation and adapt to evolving technologies and market trends.
- Team Building: Proven success in recruiting, developing, and retaining top engineering talent, creating a positive and inclusive work environment.
