Job description

Job Purpose

The position holder is accountable for overseeing Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) activities related to electric and electronic equipment on ships and rigs within the base premises or, if necessary, in-situ/on deck.

You will play a crucial role in implementing Technical Services and Corporate Goals and Objectives for the Drill Deck Equipment shop. The responsibility includes providing guidance on the most efficient, cost-effective, and safe techniques and equipment suitable for achieving desired results within specified time and budget constraints. This involves preserving the functionality of our physical assets throughout their lifespan. The individual is willing to share knowledge acquired from extensive industry experience in machining and additive manufacturing, specifically pertaining to Ship and/or Rig MRO.

The E&I Works Superintendent actively supports continuous improvement initiatives within the Technical Services team. This includes investigating root cause failures and formulating preventative and corrective actions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Setting up shop equipment and assets, defining process flow, and ensuring the availability of required tools and auxiliary equipment.
  • Ensuring the smooth execution of Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) works within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Efficient planning and execution of tasks, including proper tooling, equipment, and asset utilization.
  • Staffing equipment with trained personnel, ensuring sufficiency for the task while avoiding excessive idle time.
  • Possessing a good knowledge of rig and ship equipment, and common maintenance and repair issues in the Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) field.
  • Preparing specifications for new tools, assets, and consumables required for business needs. Developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for existing equipment and other procedures & work instructions as necessary for the assigned scope.
  • Managing workflows, monitoring equipment utilization, and ensuring their most effective usage throughout their lifespan. Contributing to the development of the new facility, processes, and organization under the area of command.
  • Supporting the Technical Services General Manager in feasibility studies, considering shop capabilities, International Standards, and Client requirements.
  • Reviewing Statements of Work (SOW) for new projects and providing feedback regarding time estimation (manhours, work duration) and tooling requirements.
  • Supporting the Technical Services Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and Inspection teams to comply with quality and safety norms following Company Policy and the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) Management System.
  • General management responsibilities for the assigned team in accordance with IMIs policies and applicable laws.
  • Supporting Technical Services Management as required in effective recruitment, selection, training, and certification of personnel. Also, appraising performance; rewarding and counseling team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems with the participation of Technical Services Management.
  • Working closely with the Technical Services HSE team to engineer out potential hazards and provide a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Remaining informed about changes to applicable International Standards and communicating them to relevant departments for implementation and compliance.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Executing other tasks and duties as assigned by Technical Services Management.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Electromechanics, or equivalent.
  • At least 15+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably within shipbuilding or a related industry.
  • Fluent in English.
