Grid Solutions, a GE Renewable Energy business, delivers high power (>100MVAr) Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) as Static Synchronous Compensators (STATCOM) and Static Var Compensators (SVC), Fixed Series Capacitors (FSC) and Synchronous Condensers (SC) systems. These FACTS devices are used to control power system voltage and reactive power flow, also typically used to improve the integration of renewables to the power system making the future power system more sustainable, well as to improve the power system stability and transmission system efficiency. FACTS technology is at the heart of electrifying tomorrow's energy.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) electrical engineer with a strong background in Hardware Design & Pre-Commissioning task. Work involves performing engineering tasks associated with the Pre-Commissioning activities including site work, thoroughly check materials, procedures, and systems to ensure that customers get high-quality, functional products. In addition, perform engineering tasks related to Control and Protection cubicles Hardware Design and Hardware integration completed within schedule and executed in accordance with procedures and acceptance criteria.
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) Electrical Engineer with a strong background in Hardware Design & Pre-Commissioning task for GE Grid Solutions. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible to complete all the Hardware Design and Pre-Commissioning tasks, documentation and fill the required test checklists. Ensure development and implementation of procedures, task plans, and processes within assigned scope of work and coordinating interfaces of all disciplines involved may use different criteria to check quality, such as functionality, durability, and safety.
Role & Responsibility
- In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.

- Verification of functional operability of all equipment before start-up operation, these include control and protection, communication, VT/CT/DCT connection.
- verify the operation of all measurement circuits. These include CT- and VT-circuits, Inject each measurement circuit’s voltage and current transformer to verify the polarity, functional tests such as testing interfaces, verification of interlocking scheme and SCADA communication.
- Able to create signals from the source, check that correct operation can be seen on HMI, and or control & protection system.
- Able to read and understand circuit diagrams, layout drawings and part and cable lists.
- Understands the operation principles of high voltage components like CT/VT/disconnectors/CBs.
Required Qualification
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
- 10-15 years of experience in electrical engineering projects with proven track record in successfully managing complex projects
Desire qualification
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
- Good understanding of engineering management tools (example, Jira, SVN)
- Willingness to travel, up to 70% (according to Project needs and phases)
