Electrical Technician

An Electrical Technician plays a vital role in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment. They are responsible for ensuring the proper functioning and safety of electrical systems within various settings in manufacturing plants. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

• Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, and electrical components.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose electrical issues and malfunctions using testing equipment and technical manuals. Identify root causes and implement solutions to restore functionality.
• Installation: Assist in the installation of new electrical systems and equipment according to specifications and safety standards. This may involve reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards to prevent accidents and hazards. Follow proper procedures for lockout/tagout, arc flash protection, and other safety protocols.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment inventory. Document electrical schematics, diagrams, and procedures for future reference.
• Team Collaboration: Coordinate with other technicians, engineers, and contractors to complete projects and resolve complex electrical issues. Communicate effectively with team members to ensure efficient workflow and task prioritization.
• Training and Development: Stay updated on advancements in electrical technology, equipment, and safety practices through training programs and self-study. Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues to enhance overall team capabilities.
• Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency calls and service requests to address critical electrical issues. Implement temporary solutions or workarounds to minimize downtime until permanent repairs can be made.

• Food or food manufacturing industry preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal apprenticeship program or technical school preferred.
• Certification as an Electrical Technician or similar credential is advantageous.
• Proven experience in electrical maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting in industrial electrical settings.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards
• Familiarity with electrical testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
