Why does this position exist?  With what permanent objectives?

Our unit, Global Active Ingredients Technology II optimizes technologies as well as processes and implements production strategies for active ingredient manufacturing in the Agricultural Solutions division worldwide.

We focus on active ingredients which are tolled, the implementation of new active ingredient processes at tollers and ensure technology ownership, specifically in Asia.

M ain Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities

Develop and implement manufacturing strategies for tolled actives :

1. Represent the technology interface between toller and BASF competence centers
2. Implement products at tollers in India
3. Meet timeline, cost and capacity targets
4. Ensure 'Technology Ownership' as well as BASF EHSQ standards
5. Build market intelligence in the custom manufacturers area with focus on Asia and especially India.
6. Evaluate technical capabilities to ensure optimal supply concepts for new AIs for tolling in close interaction with commercial team

Process improvements :

1. Continuous Implementation, tracking, improvement of tolling processes
2. Ensure process efficiency / reliability at and in close alignment with toller
3. Debottlenecking in close alignment with toller
4. Evaluation and implementation of alternative chemistry, pathways or reagents
5. Technology documentation and revision (Process Information Package, Management of Change)

Local key contact to Toller, Process development, Technology, Marketing and Supply Chain) :

1. Close interaction with toller to implement processes, drive improvements, ensure technology ownership
2. Technology support for capacity and inventory planning

Job Skills:

1. Technical Skills:

• Chemical Engineering: Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles, process design, and scale-up methodologies

• Analytical Chemistry: Familiarity with various analytical techniques used for characterization and quality control of AIs.

• Equipment and Technology: Understanding of relevant equipment and technologies used in AI production, including reactors, filtration systems, and drying technologies.

2. Management Skills:

• Project Management: Ability to effectively plan, manage, and execute technology transfer projects within budget and timelines.

• Communication: Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate technical details to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address challenges that arise during the transfer process.

3. Additional Skills:

• Data Analysis: Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation to monitor and evaluate process performance.

Job Requirements

• University degree in chemistry (PhD/doctorate) or engineering or a comparable field of study

• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the production or operating environment including project management experience

• Excellent communication as well as interpersonal skills in English

• Intercultural understanding and interpersonal skills for managing internal and external project communication with regional and global stakeholders

• Entrepreneurial as well as a high focus on innovation

• High level of motivation to work in a global team and achieve success together
