Job Summary:
The Commis 1 plays a fundamental role in the kitchen assisting in food preparation cooking and maintaining high culinary standards. This position requires a passion for culinary arts dedication and the ability to work in a fastpaced environment under the guidance of senior chefs.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in food preparation and cooking according to recipes and guidelines provided by senior chefs.
- Ensure the highest standards of food quality taste and presentation are consistently maintained.
- Handle and prepare ingredients including washing chopping and portioning.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient meal production.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen including equipment workstations and storage areas.
- Adhere to all sanitation and food safety standards following proper hygiene practices.
- Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels and informing supervisors of shortages.
- Follow recipes accurately while also being open to learning and adapting techniques.
- Support senior chefs in creating new dishes menu planning and special events.
- Assist in any other kitchen duties or tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
- Proven experience (X years) in a kitchen environment preferably in a similar role.
- Culinary diploma or degree from a recognized institution is preferred but not mandatory.
- Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and food preparation techniques.
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a highpressure environment.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Physical endurance and stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
- Flexibility to work in shifts including weekends and holidays.
- A passion for food and a desire to develop culinary skills.
