Responsibilities

  • Define pack, cell requirements & Electronics components and find the best options for product volume, weight, and run-time requirements.
  • Understanding on mechanical integration of battery cells, electromechanical components, and hardware (BMS, Battery PCBA etc.).
  • Experienced on different types of battery welding /joining process like spot welding, wire bonding, laser welding etc..
  • Experience in taking battery packs from Proof of Concept to Production.
  • Selection of PCM and other material ( gasket, Grommet etc.) for the IPXX rating.
  • Defining PFD for Prototyping of the battery
  • Good understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), DFMEA, PFD design.
  • Supplier management during the pack architecture development and during pack builds.
  • Ensure proper integration of the battery into the final system.
  • Excellent Mathematical and Analytical skills.
  • Work with safety, reliability, operations, and other cross-functional partners to integrate the battery into the final system.
  • Worked on CTP / Thermal propagation test and its detection and solution mechanism.
  • Understanding the Electrical parameters and collaborating with a Cross-functional team during development & RCA.
  • Developed test cases on cells, modules, and battery packs during the development for all standards (AIS, EU, ISO, UN, IEC, UL) also Ensure Battery system compliance for Europe Markets.
  • Develop test and validation plans for manufacturing and characterising cell & battery packs.
  • Rigorous failure analysis, root cause analysis, corrective action, and communication to the cross-functional teams on issues.
  • collaborate with the testing & Validation (DVT) team for the production readiness of the battery pack.
  • Understanding on Battery Algorithms and to achieve a target of zero error in State of Charge (SoC) and State of Health (SoH) estimation of the battery pack.
  • Collaborated with Factory and Production to ensure seamless production and reduced overall takt time across on stations including EOL testing.
  • Drive continuous improvement on cost reduction of Battery system through careful selection of components
  • Monitor and report battery data analytics during field and on-road testing to proactively facilitate ongoing enhancements.

Qualifications

  • B TECH or M Tech in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related field. 4 -6 years of mechanical /Electrical engineering experience in the battery field and pack designing and testing.
  • Knowledge of Li-ion cell chemistry and the various processes involved in manufacturing lithium-ion battery packs.
  • Experience with battery protection modules and safety standards.
  • Experience in battery pack interconnection design, thermal management, and safety.
  • Experienced on Battery and System level testing for various standards
  • Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing processes and/or automation is highly desirable.
  • Experience with the full life cycle of product development processes.
