Job description
Hardware and Software Set Up and Support : Provide technical support for hardware, software, and network infrastructure used in VFX production, including workstations, rendering farms, storage systems, and specialized VFX software applications. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution : Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues and performance bottlenecks affecting VFX production workflows. Respond promptly to IT support tickets and prioritize tasks based on their impact on production deadlines. System Configuration and Maintenance : Configure, deploy, and maintain high-performance computing environments, including servers, clusters, and storage arrays. Ensure the stability, scalability, and security of VFX production infrastructure and systems. VFX Software Management : Familiar with Linux, to Install, license, and update industry-standard VFX software packages such as Autodesk Maya, Foundry Nuke, SideFX Houdini, Adobe After Effects, and others. Monitor software usage and optimize license usage and allocation across the production pipeline. Render and Asset Management : Manage render farm resources and monitor rendering jobs to maximize efficiency and resource utilization.Implement and maintain render management systems and asset management solutions to streamline VFX production workflows. Workstation and Vendor Management : Oversee the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of workstations used by VFX artists and production teams. Collaborate with vendors to procure hardware, software, and technical services required for VFX production. Ensure adherence to budgetary constraints and technical specifications while managing vendor relationships and service agreements effectively. Network Administration : Maintain network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and network storage solutions.Implement network security measures and protocols to safeguard sensitive VFX assets and data. Scripting and Automation : Develop scripts and automation tools using languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash to automate repetitive tasks, streamline workflows, and improve operational efficiency in VFX production environments. Collaboration and Communication : Collaborate effectively with VFX artists, supervisors, and production teams to understand their technical requirements and provide timely and effective IT support. Communicate technical concepts and solutions clearly and concisely to non-technical stakeholders.Documentation and Training : Create documentation, tutorials, and knowledge base articles to document IT procedures, best practices, and troubleshooting steps. Provide training and support to VFX teams on new technologies, tools, and workflows. Continuous Improvement : Stay updated on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in VFX production and IT support.Identify opportunities for process improvement, infrastructure optimization, and cost reduction initiatives. Data Management and Backups : Implement and manage data backup and recovery solutions to ensure the integrity and availability of VFX assets and project files. Establish and enforce data management policies and procedures to maintain data security and compliance requirements. Security Measures : Implement and maintain security measures to protect sensitive VFX assets and data from unauthorized access, data breaches, and cyber threats. This includes configuring firewalls, encryption protocols, access controls, and monitoring systems to safeguard the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of VFX production infrastructure and information (ref:hirist.tech)
