The role and main activities

The CMI eCommerce Shopping Experience Insight resource will support the delivery of the South Asia eCommerce experience agenda as part of the South Asia Shopping Insights team based out of India. The person will work very closely with the Global eCommerce Insight team based out of Leatherhead, UK.

The mission of the Shopping & eCommerce Insight Centre of Excellence (SEI COE) is to build an understanding of shopping and make Transformational Actions by converting the knowledge into opportunities to gain more than a fair share of growth. The vision is to build shopping Insights that are the envy of our competitors, the inspiration of our Partners (CD / Marketing), and assets in partnerships with our customers.

We are Shopping eCommerce Insight Centre of Excellence - SEI COE

The eCommerce experience team's areas of focus are on delivering an enhanced understanding of how people shop on eCommerce and using this knowledge to drive transformational action.

What the Shopping Insight team WILL do*:

  • SEI COE will business partner with eCommerce CD to shape & deliver the Channel, & Cluster business plans, this role will focus on delivering for global and PC projects
  • SEI COE will business partner with Country and Customer Development CMI to deliver the CMI vision
  • SEI COE will business partner with Category CMI to deliver the brand performance within the path to purchase
  • It will lead/manage / support ad hoc research on understanding shopping behavior – from user experience testing to assessing decisions at the 'shelf' for the different PC categories and across the different channels, and research projects to deliver CD 2020 strategic thrusts
  • Lead, develop & execute the research plan and the projects within it as required in partnership and consultation with the global eCommerce Shopping Experience Insight manager.
  • Help the organization to understand how people shop online, and demonstrate the difference in how they shop to how they think that they shop, and how to make a difference in online stores
  • Support shaping and landing strategies with Key Customers & Channel owners. This includes meetings & presentations of insights & learnings to Key Customers, CD, Marketing, and CCD CMI
  • Advise CD and Category teams on changing shopping behaviors to help inform 'where to play' and 'how to win'

Examples Of Daily Activities That The Role Implies

  • Detect & understand CD needs and business questions to transform them into meaningful research questions
  • Contribute to Trade story building for different categories
  • Present to Key Customers & Channels
  • Raise the voice of the shopper to impact the business in areas of activation.
  • Roll out global methodologies & learnings locally from the Global CMI Shopping eCommerce Insight team supported by the Regional / Cluster Shopping Insights team
  • Make insights travel! Share best practices and learnings applicable to the country / MCO from the Region, from across the Region, and the from around the World
  • Deliver the CMI SEI COE plan as set in conjunction with the eCommerce Experience Manager
  • Actively participate and contribute to the CMI Shopping & eCommerce Insight tribe forum, and cascade output from the same to the markets.
  • Actively participate in the global Shopping & eCommerce Insight meeting
  • Track & share Shopper & Channel trends
  • Manage the Insight budget effectively within its limits

The scope & team

This role will report to the Senior Shopping CMI Manager (WL2) who in turn reports to the Country CMI VP and has a dotted reporting to Global CMI Shopping & eCommerce Insight Director.

Skills & Experience

  • 4+ year experience
  • Experience in CMI and/ or eCommerce industry is a prerequisite.
  • Good communication and presenting skills
  • Basic understanding of retail & channel landscape
  • Basic understanding of market research
  • Interest in human behavior/psychology
  • Able to lead projects
  • Basic analytical skills
