A.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

As Manager of Projects, is fully responsible for the discipline, operation and efficiency of the Projects Department, which also includes effective Project Management. He ensures that Company policies and directives are implemented and that competent personnel are assigned to carry out duties. He overviews work progress and work-hours usage to ensure that correct level of productivity is maintained and that all work carried out within the Department is completed within the allocated budget and program. He shall be responsible for staff recruitment, training and development, departmental administration and line personnel management.

B. MAIN'DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide evidence of commitment to the development and implementation of our quality management system and Core Values and to continually improve the effectiveness of operation.

The main objectives to be achieved are:

Safety/Beyond-Zero Development and growth of people. Achieve the project departments stated objectives as also those learned through the expectation and performance survey. Ensure flawless execution and predictable outcomes through quality management, setting/monitoring of department objectives and KPIs. Completion of the project safely and within cost, schedule and quality and other stated performance parameters delivering superior value to the client and lowering total cost -Delighted Client. Building a relationship and networking with the client and also internal customers so as to ensure seamless and efficient project execution and successfully win repeat business.

These are measured against the Performance Advancement Plan.

Project Department Management

Capable of performing all the tasks assigned to/performed by General Manager-Projects in M2 grade. Manage the entire project department personnel both technically and administratively. Ensure ethics, integrity and discipline in the operations of the department. Establish and maintain Department's procedures, technical guides and manuals to control the department's work activities ensuring that all staff have access to this documentation and comply with its requirements. Ensure that Company Policies are properly adhered to within his area of responsibility. Ensure allocation of competent and optimum personal to projects and proposals. Ensure that work carried out by Department is professional and adequate in all respects, particularly in relation to safety, quality and adherence to Company contractual responsibilities and compliance with statutory and legal requirements. Ensure that Project Procedure, Project Execution Plan, Construction Co-ordination Procedure are issued by the Project Managers on time. Ensure Project Managers attend/conduct all necessary meetings at project initiation stages with Business Development, client and discipline lead engineers. Identify, evaluate and record actual and potential quality problems within the Department or at the interface with other Departments. Conduct client satisfaction/feedback surveys. Conduct DE reviews on on-going projects. Set department objectives and metrics to align with PU objectives and metrics and ensure smooth implementation through close monitoring and control. Report to Director Operations/PU Head on department objectives and metrics, performance advancement plans, department personnel work allocation and billability, look-ahead, constraints and mitigation plans. Delegate authority and responsibility within the Department to those concerned with the implementation and verification of the quality related activities. Ensure that relationship with team members, other Departments within the Company and with clients, vendors and sub-contractors are effective and cordial. Actively pursue with the clients regarding payments and following up any accounts receivable.

Staffing/Human Resources

Ensure that the Department has capable, qualified and experience staff assigned to projects. Ensure people produce excellent work and continually improve their skills and grow the Company. Evaluate competence of staff for current roles and assess potential for increased responsibility or alternate job role. Set KPIs for each individual in the department and monitor to assure continuous improvement and skill enhancement. Recommend appropriate training and development depending upon this evaluation. Ensure that staff have a safe and comfortable work environment to perform in a most effective and efficient manner. Review current and future staffing needs and make recommendations regarding hiring. Interview candidates and make recommendations for the appointment/rejection of the candidate to the Manager of Human Resources. Ensure department recruitment is monitored and implemented to enable optimum staffing requirement forecasted to support business. Carry out regular performance assessments and formal annual appraisals, identify development areas/plan and ensure implementation by line personnel. Engage in mentoring and succession planning. Authorize and approve all expenses as stipulated in Company directives.

Budget / Planning

Control the activities of his Department to comply with Company's budget requirements. Ensure work computed as per planned schedule and within the budgeted work-hours.

Measurement and Performance

Ensure through frequent personal reviews, group meetings and formal DE reviews that various projects being executed by the company are progressing in accordance with cost, time, quality and technical specifications agreed with client. By regular review of project execution and status reports on all projects, ensure up-to-date and reliable statistical information on project performance is available. Ensure use of Leading Indicators and Project Fact Sheet on projects for recording and tracking the health and performance of the project. Ensure quality, technical audits and independent design reviews are scheduled and conducted on projects for consistent and predictable outcomes. Measure the performance of the projects by Client Surveys and Performance Rating System (PRS rating). Review utilization factors and project productivity and look for avenues to increase productivity.

Business Development

Actively liaise with Sales and Business Development and respond adequately to the Company's Sales process/requirements. Approve all work-hour estimates for Proposals/Projects before submission to the Operations Director. Engage is the middle/end game process and facilitate development of a robust and comprehensive bid package.

Client Liaison

Ours is a relationship-based company. Maintain long-term and smooth relationship with clients by providing higher value and lower total cost to them through performance excellence. Emphasis is on an ever-increasing group of core clients.

INIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education - A degree in Engineering Discipline Key Requirements - Experience in Design Engineering, Project Management and/or Construction preferably with an Engineering Consultant/ Contractor. Experience - Minimum experience of 28 Years of which 25 years is in project execution and at least 10 year is in similar management capacity.
