Overview In the heart of our digital transformation lies a series of in-house applications, each crafted to exceed the expectations of our customers. As our Senior Serverless Compute Developer, you will be instrumental in developing and refining these applications. These aren't just any applications – they are enterprise-grade, fully integrated with all Lummus systems, designed to set industry standards for performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities - Estimation & Planning: Provide estimates for development tasks to fulfill User Story acceptance criteria and ensure timely delivery.
- Legacy Modernization: Review, refactor, and modernize legacy code from languages such as Fortran, C#, and Java, making them suitable for serverless architectures.
- Serverless Development: Design, develop, and deploy robust and reusable Azure Functions, ensuring seamless integration with databases, storage, and other services.
- Documentation: Maintain and regularly update Azure Function API documentation, ensuring clarity and accuracy for other developers and stakeholders.
- Deployment & Integration: Manage automated deployment processes for Azure Functions and ensure their seamless integration with various Lummus systems for best-in-class performance and reliability.
- Performance Tuning: Continuously monitor and optimize serverless functions for maximum speed, scalability, and efficiency.
- Best Practices & Continuous Improvement: Monitor work progress using Azure DevOps, and stay updated on the latest Azure features, services, and best practices in serverless compute. Drive initiatives for engineering process improvements.
- Technical Leadership: Contribute to technical design sessions, offer insights based on expert knowledge of technology solutions, and provide mentorship to junior developers.
- Problem Solving: Investigate, diagnose, and address intricate software issues, ensuring clear communication with users and stakeholders about these issues.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure all serverless solutions comply with industry best practices for security, privacy, and other compliance standards.
- Stakeholder Communication: Work effectively with non-technical stakeholders, translating technical requirements and challenges into understandable terms.
- Monitoring & Alerting: Implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting practices for serverless environments, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.
- Cost Management: Monitor and optimize serverless infrastructure costs, ensuring that solutions are cost-effective while delivering optimal performance.
- Disaster Recovery: Design and test disaster recovery strategies for serverless applications to ensure data integrity and service availability in unforeseen circumstances.
- API Management: Take charge of managing the Azure API Manager, ensuring efficient and secure connections between services.
Qualifications - Fundamental Understanding: Clear grasp of the Software Development Life Cycle and Agile methodologies and frameworks.
- Technical Prowess: Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming, complex Python applications, C# or JavaScript web applications, and web frameworks like Django.
- Cloud Mastery: 5+ years of experience in Azure Function/Python/C#/JavaScript Development. Relevant Azure certifications are a plus.
- Tool & Platform Expertise: Proficiency in GitHub, Azure DevOps, Azure API Management, and other serverless platforms/frameworks.
- Database Skills: Familiarity with a variety of database systems, both relational and NoSQL.
- Secure Development: Knowledge of secure coding practices, including encryption, authentication, and authorization protocols.
- Problem-Solving: Expert analytical skills and a knack for addressing software challenges efficiently.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to liaise with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Team Dynamics: Proven experience in a fast-paced team environment, effectively collaborating with remote and distributed teams, and working independently when needed.
- Continuous Improvement: Demonstrated experience in maintaining API documentation and setting up CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
- Soft Skills: Adaptable with a growth mindset, able to thrive in evolving tech landscapes.
