Roles Mission at IMD

For this role, the successful candidate will work as a Research Analyst for SLXs Research Team and its client IMD (Business School for Management & Leadership, Switzerland). The Research Associate will work under the supervision of IMDs professor Oyku Isik.

Oyku Isik is Professor of Digital Strategy and Cybersecurity. She is an expert on digital resilience and the ways in which disruptive technologies challenge our society and organizations. Isik's research explores ways in which emerging technologies can be exploited to foster responsible innovation. She helps businesses to tackle cybersecurity, data privacy, and digital ethics challenges, and enables CEOs and other executives to understand these issues, which she believes are too important to be left to technical specialists alone.

The selected candidate will work with Oyku Isik and help her conduct rigorous research on cybersecurity and the managerial implications of cybersecurity. In-depth technical cybersecurity expertise is not necessary, but a high-level technical familiarity & genuine interest in the topic is a must. The target is to create high-quality thought leadership research, so exceptional writing skills are very important, especially for executive audiences.

Roles & Responsibility

• Conduct different types of research—e.g., data gathering, library searches, literature reviews, and field research.
• Ability to conduct interviews as a means of data collection for research.
• Write draft cases, teaching notes, and articles—creating original writing grounded on the research performed.
• Provide analysis, editing, and ad-hoc drafts for academic articles, IMD cases and teaching notes.
• Deliver high-quality output, often within tight deadlines, that is in line with Professor yk's research agenda and IMD's standards.
• Provide ideas and suggestions that could lead to innovative ways of thinking or new ways of presenting research material.
• Show the ability to (a) exercise independent decision-making to ensure the timely progression of the projects assigned and (b) work under pressure.
• Build excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Other responsibilities may be assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's and master's degrees are both required – preferably in Information Systems / General Management / Business Administration.
• Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills in English
• Ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis (SPSS/smartPLS).
• Strong research and analytics skills
• Strong skills related to Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work independently and proactively with minimum supervision
• Strong project management and organizational skills (as multiple projects will be running concurrently)
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Previous relevant work experience (e.g., in case writing) a plus
