Job description
A Digital Workspace Virtualization Engineer is an experienced and accomplished virtualization expert contributing to a dynamic, infrastructure design team making a difference. The position s primary technology focus is on-premises virtualization along with a growing hybrid cloud. The goal is to execute architectural directives and ensure 24x7x365 virtual infrastructure availability for an energy efficient semiconductor company. The Digital Workspace Virtualization Engineer role requires versatility along with initiative. The ideal candidate will know how to think outside-the-box and will share in responsibilities implementing, enhancing, and supporting the provisioning, configuration and management of enterprise infrastructure running in a hybrid cloud environment. The Digital Workspace Virtualization Engineer will work closely with architects, infrastructure team members, and application developers. Adhering to industry best practices to support onsemi s business objectives and user community experience is of utmost importance.
**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:** + Implements and supports on-premises virtual infrastructure solutions (compute, systems hardware, distributed systems management, disaster recovery, security) + Mentors and assists global VMware support team + Tier 3 escalation for investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving complex virtual infrastructure related issues in production + Capacity planning to provide analysis and decision support modeling + Monitoring, ongoing performance tuning, resource optimization, and delivering improvement recommendations to respective infrastructure teams + Passionate about cloud computing technologies, understanding business drivers, and emerging trends + Executes efficient life cycle management methodologies of network, storage and compute virtual infrastructure with an automation only mindset + Experience with hybrid cloud solutions (automation and orchestration, cloud management, cloud native apps) + Leads focused activities to improve availability and efficiency for critical onsemi environments + Experience generating useful report metrics and analytics on the health of virtual and hybrid cloud platforms + Coordinates meetings and communicates with non-technical staff on project requests + Ensures compliance to IT general controls and company working rules **REQUIREMENTS:** Years of experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in virtualization infrastructure and systems engineering Education: Bachelors degree (or equivalent work experience) from a regionally accredited institution in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Sciences, Information Technology, or Software Engineering Certification: At least one, preferably two or more of the following certifications: VMware VCP, VCAP; Microsoft MSCE, Microsoft Azure Administrator Communication: Fluent English (written and verbal) **REQUIRED EXPERIENCE**Job tags
