Job Description : Electrical Technician (Control Panel)

Location : Pune

Position Summary : 

The Electrical Technician (Control Panel) is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical control panels and related equipment. They ensure the safe and efficient operation of control systems, including electrical components, circuits, and wiring within control panels. The technician works closely with engineers, electricians, and other technical personnel to support various industrial and commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Control Panel Installation: Install, wire, and connect electrical control panels according to engineering specifications, electrical codes, and project requirements. Ensure proper alignment and positioning of control panels for optimal functionality.
2. Panel Wiring and Termination: Perform electrical wiring and termination of components within control panels, including circuit breakers, relays, switches, indicators, meters, motor starters, and other control devices. Follow wiring diagrams and schematics accurately.
3. Equipment Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues in control panels and associated equipment. Use testing and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and voltage testers to identify faults and malfunctions. Repair or replace faulty components as needed.
4. Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on control panels to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety regulations. Clean panels, tighten connections, and perform routine tests to identify potential problems and ensure optimal performance.
5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of control panel installations, modifications, repairs, and maintenance activities. Prepare reports on equipment performance, malfunctions, and maintenance tasks performed. Update electrical drawings and schematics as required.
6. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines while working on control panels. Follow lockout/tagout procedures to de-energize and isolate equipment before maintenance or repair activities. Identify and address potential electrical hazards to prevent accidents or injuries.
7. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with engineers, electricians, and other team members to ensure effective communication and coordination of projects. Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues and operators regarding control panel operation and troubleshooting.
8. Upgrades and Modifications: Assist in the modification, upgrading, or retrofitting of existing control panels to meet changing requirements or improve performance. Install new components or integrate new technologies into control panels as directed.

Qualifications and Skills :
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in electrical technology preferred.
  • Proven experience as an electrical technician, with specific experience in control panel assembly, wiring, and troubleshooting.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical principles, control circuits, and electrical codes and regulations.
  • Proficiency in interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with a variety of control panel components, such as circuit breakers, relays, motor starters, and PLCs.
  • Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to electrical work.
