Purpose of the Role
Is responsible for execution, evaluation of Breeding nurseries & trials of Okra in Hyderabad and other locations with the management of supportive team
Position: Junior Breeder
Location: Hyderabad
Reporting : Senior Breeder- Okra
Experience : 3 to 5 years relevant experience of Okra/any other vegetable crop breeding activities
Qualification & Other Essentials:
- Master's degree or PhD in plant breeding and genetics
- Sound knowledge on crop agronomy to grow the successful programs
- Good interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills
- Proficiency in English and local language is an added advantage
- Introductory knowledge of molecular breeding and pathology
- Proactive, self-motivated and self-driven person with high accountability
- Should be a team player to enhance the team development
- Demonstrated ability to track, prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet the timelines
- Must be familiar with MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Plant breeding knowledge and experience with Okra crop breeding
- Practical experience with PRISM/Phenome or any other breeding software
- The Junior Plant Breeder will work closely with the program lead to accomplish the short & long term breeding goals
- Implementation of breeding strategy and develop genetic improvement
- Participate actively in targeted tasks related to breeding, testing, and selection
- Assist with efforts to identify and select important and diverse Okra germplasm to bring added value into our product portfolio
- Assist in developing new high-yielding varieties that meet internal requirements
- Coordinate and implementation of programs in research sites through breeding network
- Able to utilise software programs, statistical analysis, summarising and reporting the breeding results
- Supervise and train temporary employees and ensure a safe working environment
Working Conditions:
- Expected to commit for long term association with organization
- Must be willing to travel
