Job Description Summary
GE Grid Solutions – a part of GE Vernova, our portfolio of energy businesses – is looking for a Sustainability & EHS Contributor to develop and oversee implementation of the ESG & Sustainability strategy for Grid Solutions, India. The role is reporting to MD & CEO of the company with functional reporting to Grid Solutions’ Chief QEHS & Sustainability Officer. The role will interact all the business lines and factories to define the roadmap for sustainability actions for the company to evolve the strategy and sustainability competences of in India region.
Grid Solutions India customers have strong Sustainability commitments across the full spectrum of ESG, and as a major supplier and partner we are compelled and committed to support them in meeting their goals. The ESG & Sustainability Leader has a critical role to ensure we do so with robust programs, data and documentation, and fostering strong partnership and collaboration with relevant stakeholders across our value chain. Our current approach has focused strongly on Environmental impact as described here: and will be an important component to build on for a holistic ESG Strategy.
This individual will work as a team player with members of the Grid Solutions EHS team to collate data related to EHS compliance & EHS liabilities associated with current operations, project sites & facilities globally for reporting purposes to ensure listed entity regulatory compliance and reporting to the Board.
You will also work in partnership with the GRID India leadership team to support growth and drive operational excellence to meet business needs and manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, lead long-term EHS planning, and support the overall business strategy.
Job Description
Lead India Sustainability & EHS objectives and ensure implementation of goals for GE Grid Solutions India in collaboration with key functional and business line partners, directly aligned to meeting commercial & regulatory requirements of a Listed company and boosting business value generation.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Develop Grid Solutions’ India ESG & Sustainability strategy, building on existing programs and frameworks and developing future fit approach in close alignment with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Build and secure approval of holistic resource plan to cover short, medium, and longer-term strategic goals
- Lead engagement with Business Lines and relevant functions such as EHS, Sourcing, Engineering, HR, Communications, and Finance to operationalize Sustainability strategy and governance with appropriate ESG policies and Sustainability KPIs
- Establish rhythm for report out to leadership and facilitate global ESG leadership committees and decision-making bodies
- Work directly with customers in long term partnerships, building trust and representing Grid Solutions’ Sustainability interests and contributions to the commercial relationship and value creation
- Monitor and ‘translate’ external ESG requirements relevant to Grid Solutions to leadership and other stakeholders, and catalyze action as needed to ensure an all-time compliant and relevant position
- Oversee Grid Solutions Sustainability data process and consolidation and feed to relevant business needs, e.g. commercial teams
- Lead training and Sustainability awareness initiatives with relevant functions, to foster employee engagement and develop a true Sustainability culture across Grid Solutions business Lines.
- Represent Grid Solutions’ Sustainability position in relevant external networks and events.
- Supporting business goals and objectives for EHS
- Demonstrate strategic and tactical knowledge to deliver excellence and drive continuous improvement and compliance against all applicable requirements (Legal, corporate and customer).
- Be active part of QEHS & S leadership team in Grid Solutions
- Understand regulatory changes and trends and forecast business impact.
- Lead business in complying with all applicable EHS rules, regulations, and GE policies.
- Anticipate business cycle growth and impact while aligning and managing resources for continued success.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Master’s degree in business management, Sustainability, environmental engineering or other academic field from an accredited college or university discipline
- 12+ years of experience leading Sustainability & EHS programs and operationalization – translating strategy into tangible action and impact – for a regional organization, preferably in an industrial and manufacturing space.
- Strong knowledge of climate, circularity and social frameworks and trends relevant for a global industrial business in the energy sector
- Solid knowledge of relevant reporting and regulatory requirements in the ESG space and experience with leading internal and external reporting processes and stakeholder engagement
- Independent, self-directed, collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Strong analytical and strategic mind-set. Ability to navigate complexity, develop clear actions, drive impact, and quickly move from details as per the holistic view and vice versa.
- Experience with navigating a global, multi-stakeholder matrix organization, engaging very different colleagues and stakeholders and effectively influence for impact.
- Experienced and demonstrated track record of reporting out to senior leadership and driving sustainability & EHS education and awareness.
- Ability to occasionally travel to meet stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a matrix environment, influence and motivate diverse teams to achieve a unified goal.
- • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization as well as organizations outside GE (customers and regulatory agencies)
