Job Title: IB EYP Homeroom Teacher

Job Location: Koramangala, Bangalore

Job Summary

The IB EYP Homeroom Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing the educational and developmental needs of young children in the Early Years Programme of an IB school. They create a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment that encourages inquiry, exploration, and holistic development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Planning and Implementation:
  • Develop and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons and activities in line with the IB EYP curriculum framework.
  • Foster inquiry-based learning and encourage curiosity and exploration among students.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students in the classroom.
  • Classroom Management:
  • Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe, valued, and respected.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively using positive reinforcement and behaviour management strategies suitable for young children.
  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
  • Regularly assess and document student progress and development.
  • Provide feedback to students and parents through written reports and conferences.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to analyze student data and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Parent Communication:
  • Maintain open and proactive communication with parents and guardians.
  • Organize and conduct parent-teacher conferences to discuss students' academic and social progress.
  • Share information about the IB EYP program and encourage parental involvement.
  • Professional Development:
  • Stay informed about the latest trends and best practices in early childhood education and IB programs.
  • Participate in professional development activities and workshops to enhance teaching skills.
  • Cultural Sensitivity:
  • Promote a culturally inclusive and diverse classroom environment, respecting and celebrating different cultural backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Health and Safety:
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times, including during outdoor activities and field trips.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and protocols.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, or a related field
  • Teaching certification or credentials for early childhood education.
  • Familiarity with the IB EYP curriculum and philosophy.
  • Experience working with young children in a classroom setting.
  • Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young learners.
  • Fluency in English and proficiency in additional languages may be a plus in an international IB school context.
