Job Description:
The Safety Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring a safe working environment for employees contractors and visitors. This position encompasses the responsibilities of implementing safety protocols and overseeing regulatory compliance with a focus on both hot work permits and the annual return
submission for MCB waste.
Responsibilities:
1. Hot Work Safety:
- Review and approve hot work permit applications ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for activities such as welding cutting or other processes generating heat or sparks.
- Implement preventive measures and safety precautions to control fire hazards associated with hot work.
- Define designated areas for hot work activities and monitor compliance.
2. MCB Waste Management:
- Oversee the proper management and disposal of Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) waste.
- Maintain accurate records of the quantity and types of MCB waste generated throughout the year.
- Compile an annual return summarizing MCB waste disposal methods quantities and compliance data.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations governing the disposal of electronic or electrical waste.
3. Safety Programs and Policies:
- Develop implement and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies in alignment with local regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
- Stay updated with safety regulations and standards and communicate changes to relevant stakeholders.
4. Training and Communication:
- Develop and deliver safety training programs covering topics such as hot work safety hazardous waste management and emergency response.
- Foster a culture of safety by promoting open communication and reporting of safety concerns.
- Regularly communicate safety updates reminders and achievements to employees.
5. Incident Investigation and Reporting:
- Investigate and report on workplace incidents accidents and near misses.
- Implement corrective actions to prevent the recurrence of incidents.
- Prepare and submit safety reports to management summarizing key safety metrics and trends.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety Environmental Science or a related field.
- Proven experience 1 year as a Safety Officer preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Indepth knowledge of safety regulations hot work safety and hazardous waste management.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g. NEBOSH OSHA) is a plus.
- Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies.
