Job Description
- Contribute to the design, construction, operation, and upkeep of lab-scale facilities for CO2 capture.
- Design and model CO2 capture experiments, design new pilot plants, construct the PFD, P&ID, heat and mass balances, and other necessary documents for the effective functioning of the CO2 capture process
- Responsible for data documentation, interpretation and analysis of experimental (thermal and spectroscopic) data
- Optimizing sorbent and processes to enhance the efficiency of direct air capture of CO2
- Research and develop methods for recycling and disposal of spent sorbent after CO2 capture
- Responsible for finding alternate methods for storage of CO2
- Create work instructions and other associated process documentation to facilitate process transfers to Manufacturing
- Work with manager and other engineers in the team to conduct Root-cause analysis, troubleshoot yield and/or process excursions and provide failure analysis support.
Skill Requirements
- MS/PhD in Chemical Engineering with past work in reactor design
- Demonstrate deep technical skills with a background in process engineering and, preferably, experience with carbon capture technologies
- Relevant knowledge in heat integration and CO2 handling, and conversion/utilization expected
- Previous experience in Aspen process modelling, pilot-scale equipment operation, lab-scale equipment operation, and/or process control automation is required
- Hands on experience with sorbent development for carbon capture and separation of other gases
- Understanding of gas separation techniques
- Understanding of atmospheric chemistry and air purification techniques
- Understanding/Experience in handling of toxic and hazardous chemicals
- Past experience in designing process equipment
- Past experience with startup and troubleshooting of industrial plants is a bonus
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
