Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior Transport Planner to support the delivery of a portfolio of projects across our business, with a focus on Active Travel Strategies.

Transport Planner role is critical in effectively managing workloads between the transport teams in WSP UK and the iCRC. This individual will be responsible for the delivery of high quality support to WSP United Kingdom (UK) and the supervision of discipline project delivery from the Transport planning iCRC.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of a portfolio of projects across our business, with a focus on Active Travel and Placemaking schemes.
• Informing the early development and design following industry design and planning guidance such as DMRB, Cycling by Design, Designing Streets.
• Fulfil a technical role on several projects at any given time, making the workload interesting and challenging.
• Undertake technical reviews ensuring the production of high-quality deliverables. 
• Producing high quality client facing technical reports and deliverables for active travel schemes and related projects.
• Conduct required checks and reviews analysis and designs
• Understand the contract and scope of project deliverables
• Lead, coordinate with and support Engineers and CAD Technicians
• Support the successful delivery of high-quality deliverables on time and within budget
• Support line manager in planning resource needs and escalate as required if there are resource or utilization concerns
• Provide feedback to line manager on the team’s performance and development requirements
• In conjunction with line manager identify, assess and manage technical project risk
• Support the company’s approach to sustainability
• Attend and contribute during team and project meetings

Mandatory skills

• Experience in the design aspects of delivering active travel schemes or similar, or someone who may be seeking to diversify and focus on active travel scheme delivery.
• A well organised and structured approach to the delivery of tasks, with an ability to adapt to a varied workload within a fast-changing environment.
• Experience of good communication skills (verbal and written) to colleagues and clients, including delivering presentations.
• Experience of liaising with stakeholders and members of the public.
• Keen interest to progress your career within a supporting organisation.

Qualifications

• M. Tech/ M. Plan in related subject such as civil engineering, transport engineering or transport planning.
• Member or working towards associated Professional body membership.
