Purpose of the job

Collinson’s’ Travel Experience division has an ambitious roadmap to deliver customer centric global solutions with consideration for regional difference.

Collinson is seeking an experienced and skilled Data Platform Manager to lead the development and management of our data platform. In this critical role, the successful candidate will work closely with the Principal Data Engineer, Lead Data Engineer, and other key stakeholders from the data analytics, product, and business teams to drive the technical direction of the platform and ensure its effective operation.

The Data Platform Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the platform design incorporates inputs from all relevant teams, including data analytics, product, and business, to ensure a comprehensive and effective solution. This role requires a deep understanding of data engineering, as well as experience in project management and the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.

In addition to strong technical skills, the ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, with a desire to learn new skills and embrace new technologies in a constantly changing technology landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the development, operation, and maintenance of the data platform, including data pipelines, storage, and processing.
• Drive the technical direction and design of the platform in collaboration with the Principal Data Engineer and Lead Data Engineer.
• Ensure data accuracy, efficiency, and performance goals are met.
• Maintain data-related technical documentation, processes, and architecture.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver value to clients and meet business needs.
• Maintain the security and compliance of the platform with relevant regulations.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and trends and recommend improvements.
• Mentor and coach team members to drive the growth of the platform.
• Integrate inputs from relevant teams including data analytics, product, and business in platform design.
• Lead project delivery within budget and timeline while managing multiple priorities.
• Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Conduct business analysis to understand the industry and competition.
• Foster positive team collaboration and partnership.
• Continuously evaluate and improve the platform to stay at the cutting edge of technology.

Knowledge, skills, and experience required

Education:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Skills and Experience:

• Extensive experience in end-to-end data pipeline development, including data warehousing, data analytics, and ETL processes.
• In-depth knowledge of data governance, privacy, and quality best practices
• Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and deliver high-quality solutions
• Strong understanding of modern data architecture concepts and experience with data modeling
• Knowledge of data management costs, including CI/CD driven processes
• Experience in Agile methodologies and project management
• Ability to interpret the impact of changes to business rules on data
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills
• Self-driven with a focus on constantly improving data platforms and processes.
