Job description
- The Assistant Manager, Value-Added Tax (VAT) leads team members to provide global VAT services to clients worldwide
- The Assistant Manager is responsible for the management of the team and oversees their performance of project tasks
- The Assistant Manager is responsible for the quality, timely delivery, and budget control of each project
- The Assistant Manager is also involved in maintaining and building client relationships
Duties and Responsibilities:
People:
- Works with internal and client Information Technology personnel to extract Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) data
- Prepares formal correspondence to, and negotiates with, Tax Authorities on behalf of clients.
- Drafts reports for clients on results of VAT Recovery projects.
- Create a positive team experience.
- Provides guidance and instructions to Senior and Junior staff
- Assist team on any technical related questions
- Identify knowledge gaps and facilitate training on tasks and ensure seamless knowledge transfer
- Maintains involvement with Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and general business process reviews and documenting findings.
- Develops and motivates team and provides counseling, and career guidance through mentoring and performance reviews/feedback
- Setting up performance benchmarks for team and targeting entitlement levels in terms of team as well as individual performance
- Conduct individual monthly feedback sessions and provide inputs during performance appraisals
- Coaching and mentoring team members while defining their career paths
- Maintain process documentation and ensure the team follows the same

- Identify and conducts training on new tasks
- Supervisory responsibilities, including training peers and checking work for accuracy and completeness

Education and Experience:
- Masters or bachelors degree or equivalent with six or more years audit or VAT-related experience is required
- Excellent technical VAT skills; deep familiarity with VAT laws and rules, especially those governing international trade and cross-border transactions of goods and services
- Previous track record of excellent service delivery and working in a team environment
Computer Skills:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.
Certificates and Licenses:
- Valid drivers license required.
Work Environment:
- Standard indoor working environment
- Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 pounds
- Position requires regular interaction with employees at all levels of the Firm
- Independent travel requirement: less than 10%
