Job description
Overview:
A VMC Operator or Vertical Machining Center Operator plays a crucial role in manufacturing processes by setting up and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision components. This position is vital in ensuring the efficient and accurate production of components for various industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently operate and set up Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs) to produce parts to the required specifications
- Read and interpret technical drawings blueprints and work instructions
- Knowledge and experience with various tooling and work holding setups
- Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting
- Monitor machine operations to ensure proper functioning and identify issues
- Conduct quality checks using measuring instruments such as micrometers calipers and gauges
- Adhere to safety and quality standards while following standard operating procedures
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth production flow
- Document production and setup activities as per company procedures
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and quality
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification
- Proven experience as a VMC Operator or similar role
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
- Knowledge of Fanuc or Haas or Mitsubishi Operating System
- Ability to perform machine setup and tooling changes
- Familiarity with quality control processes and measuring instruments
- Strong attention to detail and precision in work
- Problemsolving skills to troubleshoot machine and production issues
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Adherence to safety protocols and understanding of machine operation hazards
