Job description

*Job Summary:* As an academic counselor, your primary responsibility is to assist students in achieving their academic and personal goals by providing guidance, support, and resources. You will work closely with students to help them make informed decisions about their educational paths and ensure they have the tools they need to succeed.

*Key Responsibilities:*

1. *Academic Advising:* Provide one-on-one and group advising sessions to assist students in selecting appropriate courses, majors, and minors based on their interests and academic abilities.

2. *Educational Planning:* Help students create and maintain academic plans, including setting academic goals and monitoring progress toward graduation requirements.

3. *Career Counseling:* Offer guidance on career exploration, job market trends, resume building, and interview preparation to help students make informed career choices.

4. *Personal Support:* Offer emotional and personal support to students dealing with academic challenges, stress, or personal issues that may impact their academic performance.

5. *Resource Referral:* Connect students with campus resources such as tutoring services, academic workshops, mental health counseling, and disability support services.

6. *Academic Monitoring:* Track and identify students at risk of academic difficulties, and intervene with appropriate strategies to improve their academic performance.

7. *Conflict Resolution:* Mediate and resolve conflicts related to academic matters, including disputes between students and faculty or academic policy issues.

8. *Information Dissemination:* Keep students informed about academic policies, deadlines, requirements, and any changes in the curriculum.

9. *Documentation:* Maintain accurate records of student interactions, academic plans, and progress to ensure effective advising and compliance with institutional policies.

*Qualifications:*

- A bachelor's degree in counseling, education, psychology, or a related field (a master's degree may be preferred). - 6 months to 1 Year of experience into counseling - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Knowledge of academic policies and curriculum requirements. - Empathy and the ability to provide sensitive and confidential support. - Familiarity with career development resources and tools. - Experience in academic advising or counseling is a plus.
