Recoup offers an interdisciplinary team headed by a paediatric orthopaedic surgeon, and including rehabilitation physicians, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, clinical psychologists, orthotists, etc.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assess your client's needs, abilities, or behavior using various methods, including psychometric tests, interviews, and direct observation of their behavior.
- You are good at assessing patients and making recommendations on admission and discharge and on therapeutic activities.
- You conduct various forms of individual and group psychotherapy, including behavior modification and specialized treatment modalities such as the ACT, DBT, graded exposure in vivo and interventions for cognitively impaired patients.
- Consults with medical personnel regarding patient status.
- Participates in educational programs, in-service meetings, clinician meetings, and workshops to enhance professional development and maintain currency of methodology and techniques
- Participates in the treatment team, staff, and professional meetings.
- Participates in training programs as a supervisor for trainees and unlicensed staff.
- Works collaboratively with other disciplines.
- Observes and intervenes in instances of disruptive and assaultive patient behavior.
- Initiates, designs, collaborates, and reports on psychological research or program evaluation.
- Writes articles for publication.
- Maintain an open line of communication with care providers, patients, and their family members to efficiently address emergencies.
Skills & Requirements
- M.Phil./Ph.D. in clinical psychology and State license or eligibility to practice.
- Three years of clinical experience are required.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant current special education methodologies and techniques.
- Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards.
- Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
- Knowledge of psychological test administration, scoring, and interpretation.
- Being fair, respectful, a clear communicator, and able to handle potentially difficult situations with professional understanding.
- Experience with a diverse population is preferred, especially for chronic pain and children with disabilities.
- Active participation in the department's ongoing webinars and appropriate work-related research/ evaluation projects in areas relevant to the clinical field.
- Being sensitive to individual and cultural diversity and understanding how these factors affect who we are and how we think.
- Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
- An excellent track record in your earlier professional stint.
