Become an early team member at Neatglobal's Bengaluru, India location. We are delivering a modern, fast, automated experience for borrowers and building an efficient marketplace lending platform to connect investors directly to borrowers.
We have audacious objectives for turn times and service levels as we seek to complete the entire credit process in 24 hours and close loans in two weeks. We have awesome front end technology to support this, and our underwriters will work directly in our proprietary platform to support our team. You will help us ensure we are making the highest quality loans on the market.
The Role Underwriters perform all underwriting functions. They collaborate directly and openly with Client Success Managers, Order Outs Team, and Home Loan Advisors to identify and optimize financing solutions and deliver the highest quality loans on the market. Beyond their role in decisioning loans, helping structure loans, and eliminating conditions. They provide direct input on our proprietary software (Neatify) to enhance its support of the role. In addition, support with projects, process and procedure documentation and improvement.
Your Responsibilities Will Include Transaction & Pipeline Management - Achieve daily and monthly targets, meeting turn time expectations
- Efficiently manage initial reviews and final approvals
- Decision loans (approve, withdraw, deny) according to federal regulatory timeframes
Communications - Demonstrated experience in client interaction
- Maintain a high level of customer service and communicate with promptness, care, and professionalism externally and internally with other departments and/or business partners
- Post Conditional Approvals
- Call Home Loan Advisor to inform them of Approval conditions, suspended loans, answer questions, and suggest possible resolutions
- Post Final Approvals
- Provide timely response to questions via HubSpot, chat, or email
- Respond immediately to any questions or requests from the Post-Closing Team
- Provide feedback on any issues to Client Success Managers, Tech, Home Loan Advisors
- Actively participate in all meetings
Credit Decision - Provide credit decisions in alignment with underwriting guidelines (internal, investor, agency, state, federal) to deliver saleable loans
- Complete regular continuing education as assigned by Underwriting Manager or Training Department
- Conducting credit reviews for the loans in the portfolio and suggesting internal rating changes
System Data Updates (finalizing documentation)- Complete all responsibilities in accordance with the Process Workflows identified by Tech and Management
- Evaluate and log data and information from financial documents, property information, and other loan documentation
- Maintain and enter detailed financial and loan records in the system to frequently update key dates, update loan status information, and maintain accurate data in the system
- Ensure Automated Underwriting System (AUS) results and final underwriting documents (1003 and 1008) match and are accurate
- Use and maintain data integrity and information security for all systems provided by Company (including without limitation Company's loan origination system, automated underwriting systems, and payroll and accounting systems) for the conduct of business to ensure accurate and timely processing of mortgage loans and accurate and timely creation of business records
- Use no other systems without prior written consent of Company
Application and Projects Review - Review all documents in the file to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Individual will work on project with management for improvement
- Production-oriented by setting high expectations for self and others and functions efficiently and effectively under deadlines and stress while maintaining a professional and mature demeanor
- Collaborate with team members to identify potential solutions/exceptions for denied loan files
Compliance and No Conflicts - Hands on experience in Conventional, FHA and VA products is required
- Conduct all business in compliance with RESPA, Safe Act and all State and Federal underwriting regulations
- Conduct all business in compliance with company policy and management directive
- Process Financial Statements, Appraisal reports, Borrowing Base Certificate, Compliance Certificate, Mortgage documents, Credit Agreement and abstract critical data
- Actively engage in portfolio risk management activities to proactively identify and mitigate risks at the dealerships. Use multiple internal tools and processes to identify and escalate any early warning indicators on an ongoing basis
Ideal Profile Qualifications - 3+ years of mortgage underwriting experience (Jumbo, agency, government (FHA, VA) and appraisals, (QM and Non-QM loans)
- Advanced underwriting experience preferred
- High technical proficiency and speed in learning a new production platform
- Demonstrated ability to produce high level of saleable loans with minimal errors
- Ability to troubleshoot, solve problem, and improve ongoing processes
- In-depth knowledge of agency and investor guidelines
- Experience managing a high capacity production environment
- Detail-oriented approach, coupled with ability to manage production and meet deadlines
- High energy, self-motivated and service-oriented attitude
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
