  • Seeking opportunities to lead
  • Ambitious for quality improvement

Sandwell & West Birmingham Speech & Language therapy service are seeking to recruit a band 7 Highly Specialist SLT for ENT services (voice and head & neck) into our compassionate and future focused team.

Don't yet have the level of skills and experience needed for a band 7

If you are passionate about a career in this field but do not currently meet all essential skills and knowledge required for the post, we are happy to look at supporting you to take this opportunity via a formal band 6 to 7 development position.

In order to specifically support the growth and development of a band 6 to 7 in head and neck cancer, we will be seeking to offer a fixed-term training secondment with our SLT colleagues at University Hospital Birmingham, Queen Elizabeth Hospital. This is a unique and superb opportunity to work part of your week within a renowned tertiary centre alongside highly specialist expert clinicians, acquiring the necessary skills and experience to then return to lead in this area for the patients and population of Sandwell and West Birmingham.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an aspirational, driven individual to re-establish, shape and grow outstanding local voice specialist outpatient services for the future for our diverse population.

Whilst leading outpatient voice services will be the mainstay of this post, candidates will also be joining a service at a time of considerable opportunity as we collaborate with our regional tertiary clinical centres to evolve delivery of high quality and seamless head and neck cancer care. This post will take the lead over the future of those services.

Candidates will need to bring enthusiasm and use highly developed interpersonal skills to quickly establish and foster strong relationships with a range of key stakeholders to lead in shaping a future ENT SLT therapy service that meets our population demands and future clinical pathway models.

Candidates will be encouraged and supported to develop service ideas and will receive well-structured professional mentorship and line management supervision to achieve this.

If this is applicable to your role, you will be informed during the recruitment process and continuing your application with this understanding. The development of the new hospital will play an important role in the regeneration of the wider area and in improving the lives of local people and reducing health inequalities.

We Have Three Newly Emerging Strategic Objectives
