Job description
What will you do:
The Lead compute and virtualization engineer will be a hands on engineer with strong experience in the software defined data center, virtualization and compute platforms. This role will be a SME in engineering the solutions across the private cloud and remote sites that drive stable, secure and scalable software defined data center solutions. The incumbent will be knowledgeable in hardware, hypervisor and compute solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Engage in Incident, Problem & Change Management functions.
- Ensure the virtualization platforms are monitored properly, and are healthy.
- Configure hypervisor and virtualization solutions to provide stable and secure platform
- Engage with the business teams to engineer software defined data center solutions following patterns
- Minimize Configuration drift, to drive a more consistent and reliable OS that is easier to manage
- Deploy and upgrade firmware and updates as necessary
- Partner with the business to understand their needs and to minimize impact due to changes.
- Create and maintain regulatory documentation such as SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), WIs (Work Instructions), STDs (Standards), GDLs (Guidelines), etc.
- Collaborate and integrate with engineering services and platforms.
- Creates opportunities for efficiencies through innovative strategic decisions balancing cost and quality.
- Delivers high quality work outcomes and customer service in a high-pressure, fast-paced setting to meet company needs.
- Drive innovation through automation of services and capabilities
Qualifications:
- BA / BS required and degree in STEM field preferred
- 5+ years of relevant technology experience in one or more of these storage technologies: Dell Compute hardware, Dell VSAN solutions, VMware vsphere hypervisor, VMware vrealize suite, VMware SRM software
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with VMware NSX networking
- Outstanding employee relations skills.

- Ability to work in fast-paced environment and prioritize in parallel.
- Customer service orientation, eye for business value, and a bias for action.

- Experience working in On-premise Cloud and public virtual private Clouds.
