Job Overview Lummus Technology is currently seeking a talented individual for a unique engineering opportunity. The Process Engineer is responsible for all aspects of process design of ethylene steam cracking furnaces and interfacing between the ethylene plant process design team and the thermal/mechanical design team. In this role, you will work as part of the process team and have the opportunity to develop subject matter expertise.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities - Performs process design calculations and simulations using proprietary software/programs
- Generates the basis for the cracking furnace thermal design
- Coordinates furnace design with in-house thermal design engineer
- Prepares equipment data sheets for cracking heater associated equipment
- Prepares process flow diagrams
- Provides input for piping and instrumentation flow diagrams
- Participates in client meetings and engineering reviews; e.g. HAZOP or detailed design review
- Participates in ethylene furnace start up and operations
- Creates and presents cracking furnace operator training
- Generates supervisory operating manual of the cracking furnace section
- Occasional travel (domestic / international)
Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Technical proficiency in ethylene cracking (or similar)
- Proficient in engineering computer tools
- Proficient in simulation software such as Pro II or equivalent
- Strong proficiency with the entire Microsoft Office Suite
- Must be able to quickly learn complex software.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Works well with others; understands and appreciates the value of collaboration.
- Ability to interact successfully with internal and external clients at all levels and in all areas of expertise
- Able to represent the Company in professional & respected manner
- Able and willing to travel as may be required (domestic & international)
