Job description

nextmedia are recruiting for the role of Senior PHP developer working on managing our back-end services and ensure a seamless interchange of data between the server and our users. As a PHP developer, you will be responsible for developing and coding all server-side logic. You will be working with a small development team, coordinating with all departments at nextmedia.

This full-time role is open for an immediate start date and we require an experienced PHP developer who will be able to deliver on their responsibilities to help our business keep growing. Responsibilities

Conducting analysis of website and application requirements. Implementing new custom designed web projects and solutions Work with and customise existing internal and external platforms Building projects from start to finish either individually or as part of a team Writing back-end code and building efficient PHP modules and developing back-end portals with an optimised database. Implement responsible web design principles to ensure that products render well across multiple devices Updating and supporting website platforms and services Troubleshooting application and code issues Finalising back-end features and testing web applications Updating and altering application features to enhance performance. Maintain security of WordPress, Drupal and PHP websites and all plug-ins Liaising with internal and external stakeholders Organise material in collaboration with the stakeholders on the functionality, delivery, look and feel of websites Assist, when required with website content management for teams and additional administrative duties when required. Delivery of project, procedures and end user documentation

Key Skills required

Excellent knowledge of WordPress, including creating and managing templates, and plugins. Excellent WP Plugin Integration (WooCommerce, Restrict Content Pro, etc.) Technical troubleshooting for WordPress Excellent knowledge of PHP back-end development Knowledge of ASP.NET would be highly desirable Excellent knowledge of source control systems (Subversion) Excellent knowledge of MySQL and other databases. Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery Experience in setting up Apache web server Experience with Linux/Unix operating Experience working with debugging tools such as Chrome Inspector and Firebug. Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML) Strong communication skills Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
