As the Project Development Advisor with Princess Taghrid Institute for Development and Training in Amman Jordan, you will provide support with defining requirements, scope and objectives for new projects. In this role, you will also collaborate with the team and propose solutions to address challenges to existing projects.

Roles and Responsibilities

• In collaboration with the team, support to develop research policies, procedures and protocols in accordance with government and administration sectors
• Assist in providing updates and reports to the team and training supervisor
• Liaise with other members of staff on research within allotted timelines and budgets
• Support in addressing project issues, challenges and advise management of proposed solutions of an intersectional lens to include the participation of young women and other marginalized youth
• Collaborate with team to identify and define project requirements, scope and objectives while ensuring that a gender equality lens is consistently applied in the execution of all activities
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers on handling booking spaces as needed, purchasing and procurement
• Oversee research team and organize meetings to discuss plan timelines, project progress and deadlines
• Evaluate potential challenges and technical hitches to develops solutions to share with the senior project coordinator
• Support in preparing and reviewing project proposals, memos, meeting minutes and emails and managing project-related documentation
• Develop strategies and procedures to make Princess Taghrid Institute for Development and Training operations more green and environment sensitive
• Conduct thorough research on relevant topics such as women economic empowerment, climate change and gender analysis
• Support the inclusion of Environment Sustainability and Climate Action principles into the program design and engage relevant stakeholders
• Participate in pre-assignment training
• Participate in at least 3 public engagement initiatives before, during, or after the assignment. Volunteers will be equipped with the tools, training, and support to achieve these goals. Volunteers will also have one virtual check-in with the Public Engagement Officer throughout the course of their assignment
• Set up a personalized volunteer fundraising page on the WUSC fundraising platform and share it in your networks. Volunteers will be supported with the tools, training and support to achieve the fundraising goal
• Submit reports as required by the partner organization and by WUSC.

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in business administration or related field
• Experience in operational support and administrative tasks
• Proficiency in computer skills (Word, Excel, Google Drive/Docs/Gmail, etc.)
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to respond to day-to-day tasks
• A commitment to gender equality, youth inclusion, and international volunteering
• Flexibility, adaptability, excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity
• Experience with group facilitation and training, including content development considered an asset
• Experience living and working internationally considered an asset
• Written and oral fluency in English. Proficiency in Arabic is an asset (not required).

Project Description

Volunteering for development is one of the important ways in which WUSC pursues its mission. The IGNI+E project, funded by Global Affairs Canada, supports over 70 partner organizations to advance gender equality and the economic empowerment of 1.2 million youth around the world. IGNI+E harnesses the knowledge, capacity and expertise of skilled Canadians through volunteer assignments and public engagement activities to assist partners in improving their performance, advocating for gender equality, and implementing more sustainable, innovative and inclusive initiatives and services for poor and marginalised youth, particularly young women. Overseas, our volunteers collaborate with a wide variety of partners, including enterprise and social enterprise development incubators, skills training centres, women's organizations, and youth groups. In Canada, WUSC works with institutions and individuals to identify, prepare, and support volunteers who travel overseas to support our partners. Our network in Canada also works with WUSC to raise awareness among Canadians to inspire greater action on global development issues. Our collective focus is on sustainable and inclusive changes to create a better world for youth.

Partner Description

The Princess Taghrid Institute for Development And Training (PTI) was established to enable, rehabilitate and empower orphaned and abandoned girls after the age of 18. When integrated into the local community it was found that our girls were discriminated against, labeled, and rejected. This lead PTI to launch a program aimed at providing full care for orphans between the age of 18-24 to include social, psychological and academic support to help integrate them into the society. This program is called the 'After Care' program and it was launched by the instructions and support of His Majesty King Abdallah the second in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development and it is the first of its kind in the region. His Majesty fully sponsored a building fully equipped with fully furnished apartments, a centre for psychological support and halls for various other services provided by the program. In addition to supporting the girls the program focuses on changing the community view of the girls through carrying out various awareness campaigns and collaborating with the private sector to urge the community to accept and support these girls in order to ensure security, stability and a decent living for them.

**Eligibility Requirements for this assignment

Canadian International Volunteer Assignment: Due to funder requirements, Canadian International Volunteers must be either Canadian citizens or permanent residents in order to be eligible to volunteer for this assignment. Canadian citizens or permanent residents who are residing outside of Canada and/or who do not have a Canadian permanent address are eligible to apply.
