Job description
Varex seeks a Customs & Trade Compliance analyst to perform various trade related functions to ensure legal trade compliance and provides import/export administration and control within government rules and regulations, including appropriate licensing for shipments. Reviews contracts for required clauses and identifies omissions. Interfaces with internal and external customers, foreign order administration, freight forwarders, customs house agents, customs officers and other functional areas to ensure coordination and logistics of shipment and supports supply chain/freight forwarders.
Perform import screening and collect, review, and organize commercial and shipping documents and records for customs clearance together with CHA.
Provide timely and accurate instructions to customs brokers for clearance into India and resolve any clearance delays in a timely matter.
Performs steps necessary to ensure compliant customs clearance including monitoring proper use of HS classifications, valuation, and origin on a day-to-day basis.
Archive import and export documentation including commercial invoices, customs entries, and export declarations.
Communicate and interface with customs authorities, freight forwarders, carriers, port terminals, buyers, logistics/shipping department, and vendors on customs and export matters as needed.
Analyze import/export data to identify risks or opportunities for savings.
Prepare and organize trade compliance related records and documentation.
Review and process export order holds by analysing business transactions for export control and other sanctions requirements.
Administer the embargoed country, restricted party screening, and export-controlled shipment process.
Support accuracy and help maintain robust global trade compliance data within SAP and other parts lists databases.
Ensure effective and timely review and assessment of import/export records.
Co-ordination with Banks (Authorized dealers) and Accounts/ Finance Team.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree and 2- 4 years of experience in Customs and Trade Compliance
Proven knowledge import and export regulations in India (e.g. customs, import, logistics or supply chain)
Knowledge on general customs and export control regulations (Customs Valuation; Rules of Origin; HS Classification; Sanction Party List Screening etc.)
Knowledge on Foreign trade policy, various Import and Export schemes (Bonded Warehouse, MOOWR, EOU, Advance License, DBK, RoDTEP; SVB etc.)
Strong computer skills as well as strong English verbal and written communication skills
Effective and flexible team player, with ability to work well with global cross-functional departments and teams.
Experience with SAP (GTS) is helpful.
Role based in Pune.
Education and Experience
Bachelors Degree (or equivalent experience)
2+ years of related experience or Masters Degree with no or little experience.
