Overall In-charge of the Cost Center (CC) and responsible for day-to-day administration, discipline, job distribution, decision making, identification & development of talent by sharing industry best practices of engineering work and providing leadership and motivation.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities –
1. Ensure alignment of the CC with Company’s business goals by creating / promoting a culture to adapt to changes, viz., open mindedness / confidence to work in new / unexplored sectors, adopting of modern-day techniques, awareness of latest engineering standards and softwares, etc.
2. Maintain overall quality of engineering deliverables within given timeline and budgeted cost.
3. Drive initiatives and innovative work methods to ensure continual improvement in productivity.
4. Actively involve in Manpower Planning to ensure CC capacity and competency through Talent Acquisition, Coaching / Mentoring of team members, Identification, Nurturing and Retention of High Potential Performers and promote succession planning for key critical positions including the one held by self.
5. Selection and management of external Engineering Partners / sub-contractors.
6. Collaborate effectively with fellow CC Leaders, Top Management, Project Managers, Clients, etc.
Education & Years of Experience –
B.E. / B.Tech (Mechanical / Chemical) having 28 – 35 years of relevant experience
Skills & Competencies –
1. Developing Utilities design philosophy and strategy.
2. Conducting basic and detailed engineering for the utility systems (power generation, water, steam, oxygen, nitrogen, instrument air, compressed air, HVAC system, firefighting, waste management, storage tanks, etc.).
3. Designing utility systems for Integrated Steel, Power, Chemical, Nonferrous, Refinery, Petrochemical Plants or related industries to ensure that they comply with company standards and regulations as well as industry codes.
4. Develop and deliver design basis, process flow diagram, heat and material balance, equipment sizing & specification, P&IDs, pipeline sizing, etc.
5. Interaction with different organizations to interpret, analyze, and act on their needs and requirements related to the utility systems, infrastructure and supply chain.
6. Perform a full lifecycle review or design related to utilities.
7. Working knowledge of standard 2D & 3D design, engineering, process modeling software (ASPEN, AFT Arrow/AFT Fathom/SP3D etc.), and International Codes and Standards.
8. At least 5 + years of experience in heading a Cost Center / team having a size of minimum 50+ Engineers & CAD Operators.
9. People management & interpersonal skills, problem solving and decision-making skills with an attitude / outlook of ownership, self-initiative, taking up new challenges and being proactive.
