Job description
Assist in the safe docking of vessels by placing blocks in the specific areas as per docking plan / drawings / markings using forklifts and other lifting equipments as necessary.
Key Accountabilities: Mark and arrange blocks’ settings according to the drawings in order to position the ship for docking. Perform specialist cleaning works using winch & high pressure washing equipments as required. Perform forklift operation and assist in moving blocks and other equipments to as per instructions and job requirements. Conduct house keeping and cleaning activities on the dock bottom to clear the area for safe docking of vessels. Assist other trades like stagers, cleaners, carpenters etc. as necessary to make docking of vessels as per plan. Perform moving, washing, positioning of blocks and other heavy parts in a physically demanding situations as necessary. Comply with all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment. Performs other duties in the capacity of dock worker or assignments as directed. Job Specific Competencies: Candidate should have prior work experience in the shipyard or ship building industry, Experience in ship docking Functional Competency: Able to operate forklifts and other lifting / moving tools. Knowledge of reading block setting diagrams. Expertise in using high pressure washing equipments. Generic Competency: Team Oriented Quick learner Punctual and attentive Listening skills Safety and Quality orientation.Job tags
