An exciting opportunity to coach in our historic swimming club

Bury & Elton ASC are seeking to appoint a dynamic and progressive Coach or experienced level 2 teacher who will work with the coaching team to deliver a structured training programme and supportive team environment which enables our 120+ members to achieve their full swimming potential.  Key responsibilities of the role include;

• Working alongside our existing team of dedicated Swim Coaches and Teachers to deliver;
  • Effective coaching sessions
  • Individual swimmer feedback and target setting
  • Continual monitoring of swimmer’s development
• Assistance in the squad selection and attendance at competitions / galas
• Prioritisation of swimmer welfare and compliance with Swim England procedures

Time and pay

The Club caters predominantly for age group swimmers but we accept members from 8 (dependent on ability) to 17 years.   The Club trains 4 times per week (8 hours total pool time) at Castle Leisure Centre in Bury. 

Over a 48 week period we estimate that the role will require an average commitment (including training, planning and competition attendance etc.) of 12 hours per week. 

Requirements and skills

• Essential;
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering effective swim coaching
  • Proven track record of developing age group swimmers to competition standard
  • Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills
  • Minimum of a Swim England Level 2 Coaching Certificate
  • Minimum of a Swim England Level 2 teaching Certificate with several years’ experience
  • Completed Swim England Safeguarding and Protecting Children training
• Desirable;
  • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
  • Experience of planning and delivering strength and conditioning programmes for swimmers
  • Completed Swim England Team Manager training
