Job description
Overall Purpose of the Job:
ShipSure Insights Senior Data Scientist will aid in the development and realization of Big Data opportunities within the ShipSure marine database – assisting in the drive to provide Realtime data driven decision making to our clients.
Be central to introducing enhanced data analytics to the ShipSure Digital platform, delivering multiple operational and management benefits via Insights.
As Senior Data Scientist they will assume responsibility as team leader / focal point for the guidance and oversight of all ShipSure Insights Data Scientists (Glasgow & Chennai)
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
• Act as Team Leader / Focal point for ShipSure Insights Data Science Team
• Provide expert advice and support in the development of the data orientated opportunities
• Provide guidance, oversight and advice to the Data Science Team
• Mine and analyse data from within our various ShipSure databases to support the development and optimization of analytics capabilities within the ShipSure Platform.
• Work with both internal and external key stakeholders to identify potential opportunities for the leveraging of 'big data' for corporate solutions
• Develop knowledge management tools to support the ShipSure digital activities
• Transform current database information into bespoke databases enabling the application of latest generation analylitics
• Insights database management
• Develop Insights Data Science ideas 'incubator', focusing on future opportunities through the application of data science and AI / ML technics
• Support and lead the various work streams as required
• Attend other V.Group management offices as required
• Any other tasks as required
Qualifications
• Minimum qualification of a BSc. in a IT, mathematics or statistical field (MSc. Preferred)
• Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
• Experience using advanced Machine Learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, Scenario analysis, etc)
• Microsoft SQL skills including knowledge of Schema, Tables, Stored Procedures, Functions and Data Structures.
• Microsoft SQL skills around scripting, T-SQL, integration, cleansing, resolving data issues and data analysis.
• Exposure to reporting suites such as SSRS, PowerBi, Business Objects would be helpful.
• Experience of statistical techniques (regression, properties of distribution, statistical tests, etc)
• Ability to be self motivate for planning and executing tasks and projects.
• Willing to travel in support of business requirements.
