Job description

This is a remote position.

  1. Occupational Health and Safety Knowledge: A thorough understanding of occupational health and safety regulations standards and best practices especially those specific to steel erection.

  2. Risk Assessment: The ability to assess potential hazards and risks associated with steel erection activities and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.

  3. Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to convey safety procedures guidelines and expectations clearly to all workers on the site. This includes the ability to conduct safety meetings and training sessions.

  4. Emergency Response: Knowledge of emergency response procedures and the ability to coordinate and execute emergency drills. Being prepared to handle and manage emergencies effectively.

  5. Construction Site Experience: Familiarity with construction site operations especially in the context of steel erection. Understanding the unique challenges and safety considerations in this environment.

  6. Fall Protection Expertise: Given the elevated nature of steel erection work a Safety Officer should have a deep understanding of fall protection measures and equipment.

  7. Knowledge of Steel Structures: Understanding the design construction and potential risks associated with steel structures is crucial for identifying and mitigating safety hazards.

  8. Safety Inspections: The ability to conduct regular safety inspections identify unsafe practices or conditions and recommend corrective actions.

  9. Regulatory Compliance: Keeping abreast of and ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations including OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards and any local regulatory requirements.

  10. Training and Education: Providing ongoing safety training to workers including new employee orientations and specific training related to steel erection safety.

  11. First Aid and CPR Certification: Having a valid certification in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is essential for responding to medical emergencies on the construction site.

  12. Attention to Detail: Being meticulous in identifying potential safety hazards and ensuring that safety protocols are followed with precision.

  13. ProblemSolving Skills: The ability to analyze safety issues develop solutions and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.

  14. Teamwork and Collaboration: Working collaboratively with other project stakeholders including project managers engineers and subcontractors to ensure a unified approach to safety.

  15. Documentation Skills: Maintaining accurate records of safety inspections incidents and training sessions to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
