Job Description

The Supervisor of Production Management Systems is responsible for leading an international team in charge of the development, deployment, and support of Production Management System projects across all of Technicolor's studios using ShotGrid and ftrack. As the supervisor, you will be working with productions that range from commercials to blockbuster movies and from VFX to feature animation. You will be helping projects track status of assets and deliverables. Your role will enable you to understand production at multiple scales and manage teams that span the globe.

This role reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Technicolor Creative Studios R&D.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Own the technical vision for production management and ensure it is running smoothly across multiple, global studios.
  • Own the technical relationship with key software vendors as/where required or in service to the domain, work stream or program of work's remit.
  • Oversee one or multiple Lead developers and development teams.
  • Work with a mix of local and remote team members to help ensure realistic planning, scheduling, and regular deliveries of the results to internal clients.
  • Maintain accountability for the health and success of the projects your team(s) are working on.
  • Work with Project Managers and R&D Operations to write project charters and report on progress.
  • Lead the relationship with major stakeholders across multiple brands to shape solutions.
  • Work to improve and conform tools and workflows to a global roadmap and to emergent show necessities.
  • Assist with mentoring team members.
  • Work with local Department Managers to provide meaningful performance reviews for the members of your team.
  • Participate as needed in interviews for candidates to join your team or who may be staffed to work on projects related to your domain.
  • Along with your project manage or coordinator, lead sprint planning and organize the estimation of effort required to complete your team's projects.
  • Track your effort using the methods and tools provided under TCS R&D's project management standards and be an advocate for accurate reporting.
  • Lead the decomposition of major work and the distribution of epics/stories/tasks across the members of the team.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience in ShotGrid or ftrack.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL, Databases, Python, and web development.
  • A degree in Computer Science or in an Engineering field is preferred, though equivalent production experience would also be considered.
  • Competence with Linux and Git.
  • Significant experience developing and releasing software in or for a company/organization.
  • Demonstrable experience interpreting stakeholder requests and delivering functional solutions.
  • Experience leading a team or project or sustained period as a senior level developer.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of React or other web application frameworks.
  • Confluence and/or Jira experience.
  • Understanding of how data flows between departments of a VFX studio.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum methodology.
