Background
RATI (Rights. Action. Technology. Inclusion.) Foundation is a Mumbai-based organization that works to address the issue of violence against women and children in on-ground and online spaces through victim support, legal representation, strengthening civil society and government systems, implementing technology solutions, evidence-based research, developing accessible resources and training of stakeholders. We believe that safer communities for women and children are safer communities for all.
We run a national portal for resources on child sexual abuse and a national helpline for children and women facing online risks. We also provide social, legal and mental health support to women and children survivors of domestic and sexual violence in communities in Mumbai and adjacent districts. RATI's work has been recognized with a National Award for Child Welfare in 2017.

Position - Case Worker

Job Description:
- Working as a part of a multidisciplinary team of social workers, lawyers, and counsellors to manage the ongoing casework of child victims of sexual offences & their families and other children at risk.
- Offering support to the child and the family through case management interventions to ensure comprehensive rehabilitation of the child.
- In provision of such support, the social worker will be expected to liaison with a range of child protection stakeholders, external organisations, and specialists.
- The role is primarily field-based and involves visits to various communities and locations in and around Mumbai.
- Documentation of case history and all visits conducted in the course of the case. Please note that a specific case management software is used for this purpose. (Training on using the software will be provided)
- Liaising with multiple stakeholders: Child Welfare Committees, District Child Protection Units, Police, Hospitals, District Legal Services Authority, other NGOs, judiciary, community members, etc.
- Handling difficult and emotional situations and/or complaints in a professional, polite, calm and empathetic manner.
- Supporting the team in implementing the law on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences 2012 and other related acts for children and risk.
- Other duties as assigned, consistent with the above duties as the project develops.
Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
1. Bachelor or Postgraduate degree in Social Work. Relevant diploma or certificate courses in counselling and legal studies would be an added advantage to the applicants.
2. One to two years of on-ground experience in the social work sector with a readiness for fieldwork.
3. Speak English, Marathi and Hindi & possess good writing skills in English
4. Be skilled in the use of computers for the purpose of documentation and email-based communication.
5. Be willing to commit for a duration of at least a year.
6. Should demonstrate a strong sense of social work principles especially non-judgemental attitude, sensitivity and empathy.
Terms of Engagement:
1. This is a full-time position based in Mumbai with a salary range of upto ₹25,000 per month, depending on experience and expertise. The salary is negotiable.
2. We work 05 days a week (Monday to Friday) but depending on cases and emergencies, holiday and weekend work may be required. This will be duly compensated at a later date.

Position - Junior Legal Associate

Job Description:
- The Junior Legal Associate will play an important role in the multi-disciplinary team of social workers, lawyers and mental health professionals providing social, legal, and mental health support to survivors of sexual and domestic violence.
- Provide legal representation and support to survivors of sexual and domestic violence under the guidance of the Senior Legal Associate and Director.
- Conduct legal research and draft legal notices, petitions, written statements, applications, replies, written submissions, etc.
- Visit community-based organisations to provide legal support and advice to survivors under the guidance of the Senior Legal Associate and Director.
- Initiate and draft reports, written representations, and other communication with relevant stakeholders, under the guidance of the Senior Legal Associate and Director.
- Work in close coordination with the social workers and counsellors in the team to ensure holistic support to survivors.
- Liaison with multiple stakeholders including Public Prosecutors, District Legal Services Authority, Police, Child Welfare Committees, District Child Protection Units and other non-government and community based organisations.
- Other duties as assigned by the organisation, consistent with the above duties.
Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
- Graduate and / or postgraduate degree in Law
- Freshers can apply. Preferable - 1 to 2 years' work experience in litigation.
- Familiarity with laws relating to children and women.
- Excellent drafting and research skills.
- Excellent communication skills (written & oral).
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality in dealing with cases and survivors.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds in a mutually respectful manner.
- Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to work well in a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT) and law/research portals is mandatory.
- Ability to handle difficult and emotional situations and / or complaints in a professional, non-judgmental and empathetic manner.
