Job description
The role will be responsible for managing broad range of critical accounting for OpEx accounting processes including AIA accrual, PwC Fee accrual / allocation, market upload process for ABNA and tax team, lease accounting, non-recoverable VAT accounting, GCS credit insurance accounting process and few other critical accounting processes like M2M deferred compensation, Pension accounting, COLI accounting etc
OpEx accounting requires collaboration and interaction with wide variety of stakeholders including LE Controllers, CP&A, LFO,
Segment controllers and non-accountants and it will be imperative for the senior financial analyst to manage ambiguity as part of the profile.
Responsibilities/ Critical Factors to Success:
Responsible for reviewing accounting accuracy, completeness and timeliness of all deliverables
Ensure compliance with manual journal entry (MJE) protocol and financial integrity of all accounting processes.
Assume E2E ownership of key OpEx accrual accounting processes for AIA accrual, PwC Fee accrual / allocation, market upload process for ABNA and tax team, lease accounting, non-recoverable VAT accounting, GCS credit insurance accounting process and few other critical accounting processes (M2M deferred compensation, Pension accounting, COLI etc.)
Ensure robust cadence of checking posted results to cross validate the activity completion
Ensure adherence to reconciliation policy and review of sub ledgers to identify any potential risks and highlighting the same to the leadership team on a timely basis.
Support / participate in standardization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives
Awareness of AXP Legal hierarchy structure, accounting close protocols & consolidation
Ensure stakeholder relationship management
Ensure adherence to controls & compliance requirements in line with prevailing policies & procedures including SOX, audit support etc.
Ability to work across multiple time zones
Ensure strong controls and compliance to be able to meet and exceed all audit, regulatory & SOX requirements and ensure appropriate governance cadence around close activities
Monitor adherence to defined policies and processes to ensure financial integrity and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
Qualification:
Functional Skills/Capabilities:
Strong technical accounting background and experience in accounting and reporting.
Strong understanding of American Express business fundamentals and financial statements of AXP
Proven People leadership experience is a pre-requisite
Functional understanding of consolidation process & reporting.
Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to collaborate and build relationships across multiple cross functional teams.
Academic Background:
CA/MBA with at-least 2 to 3 years of experience or B. Com with minimum 4+ years of experience of financial accounting and reporting and related controls.
Technical Skills/Capabilities:
Understanding of US GAAP reporting requirements
Knowledge of Platforms:
Oracle GL, Advanced MS office suits such as Excel, Word, Power point
