Job description
Qualification & Experience:

- A bachelors degree in environmental science, sustainable development, public policy, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of and passion for climate action, the energy ecosystem in India, and awareness of energy-efficient technologies
- Knowledge of labor market dynamics, workforce development, and skills training
- Excellent project management, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis, including the ability to track and evaluate socioeconomic and environmental impacts.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Minimum 4 years of work experience required, preferably 5-7 years of experience
Roles & Responsibilities:
Research and Needs Assessment :
- Conduct thorough assessments of the selected industrial clusters to understand the workers and their families economic, social, and environmental challenges (pain points).
- Identify the various skills and resources (gain points) available within these communities.
- Identify the training and educational needs of workers (both formal and informal) in the value chain to enable them to participate in the emerging clean energy sector.
- Work with the GBL Research and Design teams to map out the different stakeholders in the energy ecosystem and identify leverage points.
- Identify and understand local and central government policies, regulations, and schemes that can support the just transition. Conceptualize carbon performance metrics and benchmarking for project locations based on socio-economic and environmental factors affecting workers livelihood and wellbeing
Transition Strategy and Training Development :
- Work with the GBL Research and Design teams and the stakeholders (including communities) to co-develop a just transition strategy that outlines a clear pathway for clean energy transition while ensuring economic and social stability for affected communities.
- Develop systems and key metrics to monitor and evaluate the progress of the just transition
- Co-facilitate workshops to generate ideas and solutions - covering long-term vision, transition roadmap, and broad engagement strategies with key stakeholders.
- Contribute to the Just Transition Playbook that will be the outcome of validation workshops
