Job Summary : The AWS UC (Unified Communications) Engineer is responsible for implementing, configuring, and maintaining unified communications solutions within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environment. This role involves hands-on technical expertise in AWS services and UC technologies to support the design, deployment, and optimization of communication platforms for organizations. The AWS UC Engineer works closely with architects, administrators, and other IT teams to ensure the seamless integration and efficient operation of AWS UC solutions.
Key Responsibilities: Implement and configure AWS UC services, such as Amazon Chime, Amazon Connect, Amazon Workspaces, Amazon Route 53, AWS Lambda, Amazon EC2, Amazon RDS, and others, according to design specifications and best practices. Participate in the design and architecture of AWS-based unified communications solutions, collaborating with architects and stakeholders to understand requirements and provide technical insights. Deploy and manage virtualized UC applications, including voice, video, messaging, and collaboration tools, on AWS infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. Assist in the migration of on-premises UC systems to AWS cloud, including planning, execution, and post-migration support activities. Perform routine maintenance tasks, software upgrades, and patches on AWS UC environments to ensure optimal performance and security compliance. Monitor AWS UC services and infrastructure components, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime and maintain service availability. Work closely with network, security, and operations teams to integrate AWS UC solutions with existing systems, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and implement necessary configurations. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including configuration guides, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting manuals, to facilitate knowledge sharing and training. Collaborate with vendors, consultants, and service providers to evaluate, select, and integrate third-party products or services that enhance AWS UC capabilities. Stay updated on AWS cloud services, UC technologies, industry trends, and best practices, leveraging this knowledge to propose optimizations and improvements to existing solutions. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field; relevant certifications preferred. AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or AWS Certified Developer – Associate certification is a plus. 3+ years of hands-on experience implementing and managing AWS cloud environments, with exposure to unified communications technologies. Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting AWS services relevant to UC, such as Amazon Chime, Amazon Connect, Amazon WorkSpaces, Amazon Route 53, AWS Lambda, Amazon EC2, and Amazon RDS. Familiarity with UC protocols and standards, including VoIP, SIP, H.323, WebRTC, PSTN connectivity, video conferencing, instant messaging, and presence. Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues in complex cloud environments. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and reliability.
