Job Description Manager - Legal
We are a leading national infrastructure construction company operating mainly throughout the United States across a range of industries and has a subsidiary in Bangalore, India, The Company s activities include the building, installation, maintenance and upgrade of energy, communication and utility infrastructure, including but not limited to, electrical utility transmission and distribution, wind farms, solar farms, other renewable energy, natural gas and petroleum pipeline infrastructure, wireless, wireline, satellite communication, industrial infrastructure and water and sewer systems. For more information, please visit Responsibilities An in-house counsel to provide contract management and support to the global Legal Department of company as directed and to occasionally support the legal operations of company in India. This position will be based in Companies office in Bangalore, India The Major Responsibilities For This Role Are As Mentioned Below Review, analyze and manage legal documents assigned by US counsel, compare them to Company s templates/guidelines, prepare memoranda and revise such documents and discuss with US counsel. Legal documents will primarily be real estate leases, but may also include any other documents or contracts, such as, non-disclosure agreements, powers of attorney, other commercial agreements and construction agreements, etc. The sophistication of the legal documents will depend on the candidate s experience and demonstrated ability to progress. Effectively communicate issues or concerns to the global Legal Department and/or local relevant departments or business leaders. Correspond with other departments in India as necessary regarding a wide variety of issues posed and/or questions raised during day-to-day operations. Provide accurate feedback in simple, easy-to-understand language for staff at all levels within the organization. Provide advice and legal counsel to the Indian organization on basic legal issues relating to the business. Stay abreast of new or developing legal issues impacting the Company and proactively communicate issues or concerns to the global Legal Department. Manage outside counsel and outsourcing firms as needed. Assist with implementation and improvement of processes for a more efficient workflow within the Legal Department and the organization. Ensure full compliance with the Company s standards, policies, and procedures, as well as all relevant laws and regulations and conduct training on relevant legal topics, including without limitation, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Qualification And Skills LLB or LLM from a reputed law school with relevant experience. Must be proficient in the English language (speaking, reading and writing) with excellent written and oral communication skills. 7 to 10 years experience practicing corporate law. Skilled in contract drafting, reviewing and negotiating of various legal documents required. Must have ability to hire, manage and develop a legal team in the future. Must be a team player. Patience and the ability to break-down legal matters into everyday language for staff members at all levels within the organization to understand is essential. Must be able to work efficiently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The ability to pivot and shift priorities/focus quickly is needed to be successful in this role. Applicants must be eager to learn and self-motivated.. Must be highly organized with strong attention to detail The highest levels of integrity and legal ethics are required. Person must be able to work effectively and accurately with limited direct oversight. Some familiarity with the US legal system is a plus. Experience working in a multi-national environment is a plus. Working Conditions Flexible to work long hours including weekends and be ready to work in night shift and irregular shifts if needed.
